Jammu: For the second day in a row, terror has struck Jammu and Kashmir. Terrorists have attacked an army installation in Samba near Jammu this morning and are reportedly throwing grenades inside the army camp.
A civilian has reportedly died and another is said to be injured in the heavy exchange of firing.
The terrorists have, however, not been able to enter the camp and are firing from outside. Sources say there could be as many as four terrorists involved in the attack on the camp of the 81 Armoured Regiment.
The army has brought in reinforcements and is moving in 'Infantry Combat Vehicles' from Jammu towards the encounter site.Yesterday, two terrorists dressed in Indian Army uniform crossed the international border, hijacked a jeep and stormed a police station in Kathua district of Jammu, killing four people, in the first major terror attack in the state since Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's PDP-BJP coalition government took charge this month.
Both those terrorists were also killed in a fierce gun battle that lasted for six hours. (Read more)
Sources said the terrorists would have used unfenced sections of the International Border to cross over. Although the entire India- Pakistan border is fenced, there are portions both on the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC) where rivers and rivulets make the fencing vulnerable.
