ATM on INS Vikramaditya:

.
What happened to cashless campaign? Can't they use their debit/credit cards overseas?

. . .
ATM would be the last thing a person would need while at sea and more so on an aircraft carrier. If it is the State Bank of India's E-Corner then I must say it is a good move by the Navy. But an ATM.. Naaaaaaaaaaaah!!

It is supposed to be helpful when AC docks at small port where ATM is scarce. It is a smart approach though looks ridiculous. It won't be necessary when India is much more developed that every port has either enough ATMs or well supports cashless transactions.

INS Vikramaditya has a small Utility Store onboard , where the crew can buy extras.
With ~1700 men onboard , its a high tech village.

Well.. As long as they know what they are doing !!

I don't see the utility of such a move. It's not as if ATMs are scarce at the ports where the carrier docks. And this will mean one more security risk since someone will have to periodically replenish the ATM. Oh well - the utility of the carrier itself is questionable.

If you can have an uplink for ATM..then same uplink can serve electronic payments and credit cards...beside ATM will dispense Indian currency...and as per Indian law...taking currency abroad above certain amount is illegal...and Indian currency will of of no use...abroad..

ATM, Starbucks, Movie hall and all are standard placements in carriers nowadays.

Providing creature comforts is a psychological need for the Navy.

Do you want the average paid soldiers of a nation handling million or billion dollar weapon systems go rogue?

Take IN. I have seen a mocking article about the Dosas, Chapathis and Sambars being made in IN ships.
What the hell they expect in Indian Navy Ships? Cheese burgers?. I mean, I would love a In and Out burger place in my ship. But idiots are everywhere.
