At least 20 militants, five soldiers killed in Orakzai clash: military

KALAYA: At least 20 militants and five soldiers were killed when Pakistani forces and a group of militants clashed in northwestern Pakistan on Tuesday, military officials said.

The skirmish, which took place in the Ghaljo area of the northwestern Orakzai tribal region, began when militants ambushed a military patrol.

Officials said 18 soldiers were wounded in the ambush.

The death toll could not be independently verified, and militants often dispute official figures.

The Pakistan military has been conducting operations against militants in Orakzai for months.

Several militant groups are active in Pakistan’s northwestern semi-autonomous tribal regions, near the border with Afghanistan, including the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), responsible for many of the bombings across the country in recent years.

Looks like we are heavily focused on Orakzai agency these days though the real violence is occurring in South Waziristan where forces have abandoned their check-posts, forts and bases and the militants are running amok. Truth is no matter how good the army tells u the situation is you have to believe it is pathetic.

Pakistan desperately needs attack helicopters and drones, but US is not ready to provide them, to some extend US companies are also not ready to provide, Because Boeing feels any sale of Apache to Pakistan inform of aid will affect its sale of Apache helicopters to India.
