New Delhi: On Diwali, we all look forward to the picture which shows a glittering image of the Earth from space. But did you know that the picture is absolutely farce? The image, which is circulated fiercely across social media during this period, is actually Photoshopped and captioned as: ‘This is how India looks from space on the night of Diwali.’

So now, the real question is – How does India look like from space on Diwali? Do not fret. Because we have the answer.

On October 19, astronaut Paolo Nespoli shared the real picture of India from Space and this is what it appears, precisely.

“Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, starts today. Happy Diwali to everyone," is what Paolo Nespoli's post reads.

Here’s what India looks like on Diwali:

Folks on Twitter also confirmed that the image shared is real.

Ever since the image has been shared, it has gathered around 5300 retweets and 8600 likes on Twitter.

Several users from India and around the world thanked Paolo Nespoli for his ‘kind’ gesture.

Paolo Nespoli is an astronaut with the European Space Agency (ESA) and has been working at the International Space Station (ISS) on Vita Mission.

The orange lights is the IB in Punjab. The bright lights near that border are Lahore on the Pakistani side (left) and New Delhi (right) side of the IB. This has nothing to do with how India looks on Diwali night. It's what ISS sees every night!
