The point is, we as adults should be able to talk about everything maturely and not just go on name calling and generalization binges.
Treatment of women in South Asia is a problem, not just in India and Pakistan. But it is wrong to paint a society or throw shade at Indians as part of some "cultural" shortcoming that leads to this. Because then we are forced to bring out the issues of South Asia including Pakistan to show that the same "culture" also exists beyond boundaries.

I suggest you try to work on improving the level of discourse on your side of the border and I will do my part towards my countrymen.

Actually, no. They are all related. Let me explain:

You started by saying that the culture in Pakistan was to protect women from harassment and that recently you had heard or witnessed people being beaten up at a mall by a mob for harassing a women.
I'm proud that this happened.

But then you followed it up by saying that unless Indian men stand up and protect women in public, as they failed to do here in this incident, that they will be brandished as cowards.

This brought me to question two things:
1. The mukhtar mai case where violence against a woman was publicly endorsed.
2. the Hudood Ordinance, based on Sharia which requires 4 witnesses to corroborate rape.

The point was that if culture dictates that harassers are to beaten in Pakistan, means that if a rape is proven, means that there were at least 4 witnesses who didn't do anything in Pakistan after witnessing a rape ( a gross neglect of responsibility and not uncommon to what is being discussed here). or that Pakistan has no rape!
Since the latter is not true. I asked you to comment on the former.

And I also caveated saying that this doesn't prove anything about culture! If you agree with me, then we have nothing more to discuss. If you don't, I'm all ears!

I do not know why the girl was pushed around. It is not like she is screaming for help. That is physical abuse. It does not qualify for what I called a "beating".

Without knowing what is happening why would you interfere ?
