Of course that was when they were in government, we had no choice but to deal with them, since Egypt is an important and Arab country, and we have had very close historical ties with Egypt for decades since our colonial era to this day, we also have huge economic interests to protect there(we have been the leading investor in Egypt by a margin as well for a while now and one of their largest tourist source).
So U.K -Eggyptian ties had to be kept on track somehow giving the trade ties that existed betweem both countries are and post Morsi, eventhough we withdrew some of our investments and issues travel warnings to our tourists(we have been their second largest tourists market) when Morsi took power (this radical Islamic MB was behind the wave of targeting and chasing Coptic christians in Egypt for example) due to uncertainty over this islamists policies and direction of the country.

So it's not like we supported him, unlike Erdogan who has been supporting this radical Islamic groups Muslim brotherhood for years even before and after they briefly took power in Egypt(luckily Egyptians quickly realised who they were and what they stand for and quickly came to against them). I don't know if it's because he agrees with their ideology or something.
Erdogan has been making some weird foreign policy decisions recently. Supporting Well known terrorist group like Hamas in Gaza, Muslim brotherhood in Egypt, Uygurs radicals in China, even the islamists Jamaat-e-islami party in Bengladesh.
. The man seems to want to give Saudi Arabia and Iran a run for their money. Too bad he can't really beat these two countries in this islamic caliph tittle in this game.

Finally, this topic is even better and more diplomatic , Erdogan has said far worse before, he recently (2years ago) said Israel was from worse than Hitler. So seems he has even robe down his radical rhetoric . He sometimes reminds me of Ahmadinejad .
