Asean foreign ministers urge Myanmar to indict general in Rohingya killings

. .
@Chinese-Dragon

Bit by bit Myanmar and it's best buddy China is being isolated on this issue. West, Muslim world and now Asean are lining up on the side of BD/Rohingyas.

Asean has finally given up on the Barman savages - maybe they thought they can reason with savages?:o:

This episode will end up being a total disaster for the Chinese and an amazing gift for the USA - USA will use this to say "Look, we are not so bad as the Chinese are no better than us!".
I have said many times that in time the Chinese will regret what they have done as the one trump card they had over the USA, they gave up needlessly.

Lol kid even your Hindu-boot licking government doesn't give two hoots about the Rohingya, what you talking about the rest of the world?

Rest of the world recognizes Chinese as defensive and non-interfering.

China sticking with Myanmar shows that they are a reliable ally and this will increase Chinese prestige.

Keep dreaming Bungloo.

Asean foreign ministers urge Myanmar to indict generals in Rohingya killings

Southeast Asian foreign ministers urged Myanmar to prosecute those responsible for a brutal military crackdown against its Muslim Rohingya minority, Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan told his country’s Parliament on Tuesday.

Due to the political sensitivities surrounding the issue, foreign ministers from the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations, known as Asean, met unaccompanied on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on Saturday in New York, Balakrishnan said.

“We expressed our grave concern with these alleged acts of violence that have led to loss of life, injuries, destruction of homes, and displacement of large numbers of people,” he said.

An independent inquiry commission established by the government of Myanmar, also known as Burma, should be given a full mandate to investigate and to hold the people responsible fully accountable, the minister told parliament.

An August UN report called for Myanmar’s top generals to be investigated and prosecuted for committing genocide and war crimes against the Rohingya. It found that Myanmar’s security forces had systematically murdered, tortured, gang-raped and enslaved civilian members of the minority, and set fire to entire communities in violation of international law.

“This is a man-made humanitarian disaster, and something which should not be happening in this day and age,” Balakrishnan said.

Last week Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad told Turkish international news channel TRT World that his county no longer supports Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi over her handling of the Rohingya crisis. The Nobel Peace Prize laureate has faced global criticism for her failure to stop the violence.

The Trump administration has imposed sanctions on four commanders and two military units in Myanmar over their involvement in the alleged ethnic cleansing.

More than 600,000 Rohingya have fled to neighboring Bangladesh since militants from the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army attacked 25 police and army posts, killing a dozen security officials in Rakhine state. The military responded with what it calls “clearance operations.” Bloomberg News

Suu Kyi said last September that her government was ready to welcome back those who had been displaced. But Balakrishnan told Parliament that since an agreement was signed a year ago between Myanmar and Bangladesh for the repatriation of hundreds of thousands of Rohingya, “not a single refugee has returned.”

“We’re going to have to wait and see and hope that this will begin shortly,” he said.

Balakrishnan also warned that unless long-term solution was found, the impact of an already complex situation would only widen.

“If this festers it will create more opportunities for extremism, and ultimately terrorism, which will not respect boundaries, and will represent a clear and present threat throughout Southeast Asia and beyond,” he said.
Yeah, they will.

These statements show that nobody actually cares enough to do anything about it.

If they cared, we would be seeing action instead of words.

Even Bangladesh itself is still happy to continue trading and cooperating (and sucking up) to Myanmar.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday said the government wants to solve the Rohingya crisis keeping “good relations” with neighbouring Myanmar unharmed.

“We want to resolve the crisis keeping the good relations with the neighbour,” she said.

Same process is happening before the Serbs got bombed to death.

Damn, China is totally isolated in being the only supporter of the savage entity now. What a fall from grace for a nation that kept saying "We are not like the USA\West".

Butt-hurt.....

When you are banned, how do you get your BD "fix"?

Like every other nation, we take care of our own national interests first. But at least we admit that.

Unlike two-faced backstabbing Bangladesh, who cries for the Rohingya while denying them refugee status, and sucking up to Myanmar at the same time.

Just like Bangladesh backstabbed Pakistan, just like they backstabbed India, and just like they backstabbed China on Sonadia Port. Now they are looking for their new master Donald Trump to save them.

Too bad that Bangladesh's rivers originate in China and pass through India before they get to BD. That's assuming they don't get finished off by Myanmar or global warming first.

But at least Bangladesh has kowtowed in front of Myanmar for "good relations" already.

America is much preferable even under Donald Trump than ruthless totalitarian dictatorship China. Almost entire world prefer American leading in the global affairs than China.A recent worldwide poll confirmed this.China is a country even not supported by immediate neighborhood. They will remain firmly in American camp in foreseeable future and frustrate Chinese ambition of global dominance.

This is only true for Bharmaputra. But 80% percent of it's surface runoff originate in Indian north east and Bangladesh. So no problem for us if China divert it's flow in Tibet. We will still have plenty of water.
That's assuming they don't get finished off by Myanmar or global warming first.
Pesky burmese will not dare that. They know very well, Bangladesh is far more powerful state than myanmar inherently and any conflict with Bangladesh will blow up in their face sooner than later.

You should have some shame teasing Bangladesh about global warming when China is predicted to be the biggest looser in supposed global warming.Read some report about it.China will have biggest number of climate refugee in 2100 AD in the world if global warming became as bad as predicted by scientists.

u should know PH , Vietnam and most ASEAN go against any resolutions which can harm Myanmar. in this case , SG FM already supported the internal investigation team what Myanmar want to be. u should go and check also this.

Myanmar got a lot of allies regarding with this issue. and it's already prove our strong relationship with them. I just wonder if BD face the crisis like Myanmar , how many countries stand with u guys , at least even in this forum.

PH Burundi and China opposed the resolution. And all of them had personal issues as they were hammered before not because they love mm.
God willing bd will never needed allies to cover up its genocide.

Damn you are also butt-hurt at BD and Chinese at that! lol

Your butt-hurt comes from the fact that BD did not give you a million year lease for Sonadia port?

Why would BD do that as it does not sell itself like others, and also antagonise great powers like Japan and USA that are more important for BD economic development? You must think that BD is run by idiots?!

China has totally failed to build up any alliance system at all, apart from Pakistan and Myanmar, despite the fact that in real terms it is the richest country in the world.
Pakistan is going nowhere economically and so Chinese are pumping in tens of billions in economic and military aid to shore them up. With CPEC in full gear now, Pakistan GDP growth is likely to dip from 6% to 5% this fiscal.
Myanmar is a complete savage and now global outcast.
Oh I forgot about Russia who is actually an asset for China, but that is just an alliance of convenience that can break at any time when required.

Yes please cut off the river water and monsoon laden BD will not even feel an inch. BD will not be surprised after seeing your true face as regards the Rohingya issue.
