“Pakistan will showcase its JF17 Thunder — the fighter jet it indigenously developed in collaboration with China,” he said. “Malaysia has also expressed an interest in purchasing rice and halal meat from Pakistan.”

Pakistan will soon implement an agreement to export anti-tank missiles to Malaysia, he said.

In the meantime, both countries have agreed to open branches of their banks in each other’s countries, he said. The finance minister added that Pakistan will capitalize on the Malaysian experience in the tourism industry.

Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad arrived in Pakistan on a three-day visit Thursday night. He was given a 21-gun salute on his arrival. The Malaysian PM is visiting the country on the invitation of PM Imran Khan. He will attend the Pakistan Day parade on March 23 as the chief guest.

The Malaysian PM expressed the desire to increase trade with Pakistan. “We have identified many areas where we can enhance our relationship with Pakistan. If we increase trade, it will benefit us both a lot,” he said. “We are happy to renew our relations with Pakistan.”

Earlier in the day, a guard of honour was presented to him as he arrived at the PM House. He was accompanied by PM Khan and Umar.

The two premiers will also speak at the round table meeting of the CEOs of industries who want to invest in the automobile and telecommunication sectors of Pakistan.
