What's new

As US closes up, EU and China must build closer ties

If there were no need, there would not be over 8000 freight train trips between the two sides.

So, there is a need, and it is a two-way street.

You would be surprised how much Volkswagen relies on China market for profit.

.
Just like CAD-Mex, EU buy lots of Cnese products just to sell to US. EU herself is a death zone. just see hyper inflation in Germany before WW2. 1 hundred million Marks for a burger. wow!

Germany is just zombie surviving till now thanks to US mercy.

LOL.. Most of the goods China sold to EU are essential goods for daily survival as Chinese goods with great efficient of production and good ratio for money vs quality.

The Chinese goods sold to EU are not LV bag or Prada shoes of super branded items. Without those Chinese goods, European will loses all the competitive edge. Standard of living will increase and inflation will skyrocket high.
Just like how US walmart fill with billion dollars of Chinese daily items and American loves to shop their necessity from there. If Walmart dont import a single made in China items, it will virtually close down. Ordinary American will suffer.

Just becos a country export more to another country, doesnt mean the imported countries is at disadvantage.
If India import billions of arms from Russia and Russia imported zero of India. Does that means India can dont need to buy Russian arms.

EU cant do without Chinese goods. This is a fact you need to accept no matter how u bark.

What were USA and EU doing when China was pulling stunts like Cultural Revolution and Great Leap Forward ?
They were just doing fine

Two-way investment between China and Germany has amounted to more than 40 billion US dollars, according to an official with China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC).

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the China-Germany Intergovernmental Agreement on Science and Technology Cooperation, a key deal that has boosted cooperation between the two sides.

Bilateral cooperation has been expanding with more fields and higher levels, said Li Yong, deputy head of the Investment Promotion Agency of the MOC, at an investment forum held Sunday in the city of Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province.

Trade volume between the two sides reached 168.1 billion US dollars in 2017, accounting for nearly 30 percent of China's trade with Europe. China has been Germany's largest trade partner for two consecutive years, according to Li.

With China's accelerating urbanization and growing middle-income groups, the country has a booming consumption market and the government is further opening up and working to protect the rights of foreign businesses in the country, Li said.

Since 2013, China has become the largest source of investment in the German electronics industry, with investment projects covering multiple areas of production and R&D in the industry, according to German government agency Germany Trade & Invest.

if you think China is indispensable low cost producer of goods think again

. .
China is not a low-cost producer. It is an efficient producer. And it is the largest global investment destination in 2018 -- This is while even Lenovo is now made in Vietnam.
efficiency is a function of costs
