Arz missile – Lebanese made surface-to-surface missile! | +961

Believe it or not, I just found out that Haigazian university and the Lebanese army have cooperated back in the 1960’s to produce a series of surface-to-surface missiles called “Arz-1″, “Arz-2″, and “Arz-3″.

It all started with a project led by Professor Manoug Manuogian at Haigazian university in 1960 resulting in a single-stage rocket that reached an altitude of 2 kilometers. The Lebanese president at that time, Fouad Chehab, decided to finance the project with 25,000 L.L, which allowed the group to build tw0-stage rockets in summer 1962, and a three-stage rocket later in November 1962. By the end of this year rockets were able to reach an altitude of 20Km!

However, the project was halted shortly after the French President Charles de Gaulle told President Chehab that the Lebanese abilities were proven in the scientific field, but the project might put Lebanon at risk if further researches are done! (WTF!!!) i.e. These missiles are a threat to Israel, and it will not remain silent towards the advancement of the Lebanese army in missile technology!

I didn't know about this. It proves we can make many advancements in military field but political threats prevent us from doing so.

Lebanon invented a lot of things
Iraq also was ahead of the Middle East in drone technology Iraq was the first arab country to launch a space program
Also iraqi scientists did the enriched uranium on their own without foreign help

.
Lebanon was doing quite well in the 60s and even had a space program that was relatively advanced for a country of its size.

But, as usual, geopolitics smashed it into a thousand pieces. Seems to be the story of the modern Middle East.

.
Egypt also worked on missiles and rocketry, started a bit before lebanon, and was successfull in building a V! and V2 like rockets, although a bit more advanced. It has worked on an fighter jet Helwan HA-300 on its own and came up with own engine for the airplane, they sold some fighters and engines to india, who was struggling to find a good engine for its fighters Marut. and Egypt is about to start manufacturing a new one as of some 2010 news.

Was it Russian tech transfer or actually innovated in Iraq? Imagine what Iraq would have become if the US didn't destroy it....

Iraq became development country in the 1970s that's why the Americans and the Zionists and the arab traitors pushed Iraq to many wars in order to destroy it
