Such bull racing used to happen near my place also which was banned recently. Instead, they are organizing dirt bike racing there.. well recently people are buying horses also - for betting and illegal racing - I hear.

Our supreme court's logic : It's absolutely okay to abuse, torture, kill and eat cows but raising them for sport? Nooooo! Did the supreme court forget that cow slaughter is unconstitutional? Why didn't they ban cow slaughter first and then ban less cruel activities? They didn't ban horse racing which is far worse and cruel than bullock-cart racing, because you can't mess with them rich folks right?

But thanks to supreme court's ban, these ferocious bulls, who stalked jallikattu arenas like champions, are now boarding goods vehicles on their way to slaughterhouses.

its not and i wasnt putting your jallikaatu in the same box as female infanticide - i said we need to evolve out of it. as long as the animals are not hurt, i dont see why it should be banned. so why was is banned?

What a crap I lived in Chennai for 5 year and they are different but proud to be Indian and probably one of the most disciplined and law fallowing community in Country. So many people asked me if my wife can give Hindi Tuition to them or their children

bulls (and cows) are part of indian cultural traditions for centuries. one of the traditions to rearing strong bulls ( for agricultural purpose like tilling land). bull taming sport is just a display of strength of man & bull where which bull stays in the arena for longer period of time or which men are strong to tame the bull. Tradition comes as part of the fact these bulls are used to till the land for agriculture. its similar to bullriding in texas. bulls are not sacrificed or eaten and they should be tamed only with bare hands.

there are some misguided animal activists who blindly follow rules and cant differentiate between what is good or bad. if you go by these idiots rules even horse riding would be considered as cruelty.

No offence but many here and in N India have no idea on the tradition behind Jallikattu. You should come here and see.

Jallikattu Bulls are taken care of like their son. Their only job is to practise and practise all round the year for the competition. Some are very affectionate and can be controlled only by their owners. The sport is very prestigious.
Some people in order to make bulls vigorous make some idiotic practises like giving alcohols, chilli powder on its a-ss etc. The total duration of each Bulls in competition is less than 5 min. Some NGO's are working only to have it banned.

Its a practise from Time immorial. Hope u know about IVC Bull fight seal. If Dravidians were original inhabitors of IVC, then such ancient is our practise.
