According to my information, BSF opened fire on school children and women very close to the line of control, PA officials attempted to use the hotline to inform the bharties that were firing on civilians and to desist. A number of calls were rebuffed with heavy firing continuing, finally the Rangers retaliated in a big way, injuring and killing about two dozen indian soldiers.
Again PA officials using the hotline, offered the indians a ceasefire, so they could collect their dead and wounded, but through intelligence gathering it was learned that the bhartis were using the lull, to bring up heavier weapons. The PA pre-emted this move, and continued to defend the innocent civilian population, using effective tactics.
The indians have been told in no uncertain terms - that any firing on the civilian population of Azad Kashmir will be given a befitting response.
