In the $80 million trial, the Israeli air defense system will attempt to intercept missiles similar to advanced long range Iranian missiles.

In several months, Israel will conduct a trial of the Arrow 3 air defense missile system in cooperation with the US Missile Defense Agency in Kodiak, Alaska. The decision was taken to conduct the trial in Alaska because the relative remoteness of the region means that following the interception, the debris that falls to the ground will not cause any damage.

During the trial, the system will face ballistic missiles similar to advanced Iranian missiles and which the Arrow 3 will be required to destroy in space, outside of the atmosphere, in order to prevent damage on the ground, in the case of unconventional warheads.

According to sources as the trial center in Alaska, the cost of the trial will be $80 million, part of which will be financed by the US.

Defense sources in Israel confirm that Iran is continuing to develop advanced long range missiles although regarding all matters involving uranium enrichment, Iran is complying with the anti-nuclear agreement.

The Arrow 3 is capable of destroying missiles at an altitude of hundreds of kilometers and could potentially in the future intercept satellites.

why is that

when you make a defence system to counter a missile you have to test it in a real war like scenario so that you can see it's working or not and what improvements does it needs so that your forces can depend on it in real war situation
