Army to get its first attack copter squadron next year

Sorry dude the single brahmos weight is round 2.5T (Air launch) did you think is it possible and the total weapon capacity of lch which is more then Rudara is 2.7T only.

single brahmos air launch weight is 2.5T
and max take off of rudra is 6.1 Ton(5,500 kg)

we can integrate 2 brahmos air launch in RUDRA....

Yes, maybe someday we can field one squadron of Rudra with Brahmos with the SFC for strategic use. Still too early for that yet.

You got it completely wrong buddy. The 5.5 ton(not 6.1) is the Maximum Takeoff weight, not Maximum Payload.Maximum Takeoff Weight=Empty weight(2.6 ton)+fuel weight+weapon. So Dhruv ALH can never carry Brahmos,,even if had payload of 3 ton as its body frame is not made to carry such a heavy load. And why do you need to mount something like Brahmos on board a gunship when you have fighters like Sukhoi Su 30MKI??????????
So all in all, there is 0 chance of Brahmos being mounted on board ALH Rudra............

I am a little confused why IA or for the matter any army goes for anything similar to Rudra when they can go for LCH??

Don't know about other armies but for IA,there are several reasons to go for Rudra.
1.LCH is not ready yet and it will take atleast 2 more years to be fully operational.
2.LCH is a pure gunship, where as Rudra is a weaponised transport helicopter which means it can take supplies for forward areas as well as provide close air support to the advancing amy infantry/armour units.
That's why IA went for Rudra ALH.

If thats the reason why not wait for LCH a little bit( 2 years is quite little compared to other delays) and then buy more LCH instead of rudras and during a war LCH can escort the choppers taking supply.
And since LCH is a pure gunship it will be better in this job too.And do we have any kind of offensive weapons on Dhruvs like Black hawks have machine guns on it??

Because IA can't stand that they have no attack helicopters and are dependent on IAF for fire support! The same reason why they are now pushing for own weapon trials for Rudra or why they now want the Mi 35s too.
Rudra has the same weapon systems as LCH will have, even the chin mounted gun, which is very unusual for an utility helicopter. Normally these kind of helicopter can fit an external gun on one of the hardpoints in case a mission requires it.

Rudra will be able to carry fully armed troops in the battlefield and will also be able to counter attack if attacked upon ,another use is that it can be used to carry special forces behind the enemy lines with sufficient fire power to act if attacked . while LCH will be dedicated attack helicopter , with main role of Tank busting and close air support for tank and infantry regiment

Would love to see some pics of the final spec WSI ALH- gonna have to wait till next year I suppose.

Whilst defence media of Indian forces has increased exponentially in recent years I always want more.

Absolutely right buddy, with a max takeoff weight of 5,700 kgs, the LCH is too light to carry the Brahmos. The Rudra or the Dhruv WSI is even lighter at 5,500 kgs. My mistake, I stand corrected.
