Army sets up human rights cells, helpline in J-K

In a bid to reach out to the people, the Army has established human rights cells and launched a helpline in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Army has established human rights cells and launched a helpline at battalion and unit levels in Doda district district where people can call regarding human rights violations," a defence spokesman said on Tuesday

A unit of Rashtriya Rifles (RR) in Gundna belt of Doda has established a SAATHI helpline, where people can call regarding violations of human rights, RTI related issues, guidance regarding education and scholarship schemes, pensionary and old age related government schemes, medical benefits to people, career counselling for youth and guidance for recruitment in armed forces, para-military and police.

At the battalion level, a "Khuda Ke Bande Human Rights cell" was setup at Armora camp in Doda, he said.

For what :blah:... they can't stop from killing innocent youth... is it just to show international community .... In our history has anyone been punished for human right violation :hang2:... its just a joke :hitwall:

A very thoughtful and commendable move at a sensitive time......though a lot more of these ideas need to come up and be implemented to prevent further alienation of the kashmiri youth .......

.
Now this is a positive development that will only benefit the current situation......

I have always maintained that accountability of various Govt. arms has to be mandatory if Indian democracy wants to succeed.....

Accountability of our Government and related organizations is something us Indians have not used to our benefit as yet....
However programs such as the unique identification number for Indians, CAG audits, and the above will hopefully change that....

Till yesterday, all indian members were saying army using bullets on 10 year old children and elderly mothers is soft way of handling Kashmiri Muslims.

Today, every one is saying human right cell is right move... 'no comments'

You have a problem when India deals with Kashmiris heavy handedly.......calling it a Human rights violation,.....

When India takes steps to rectify past mistakes....now we are people with ulterior motives.....

Seems the use of Kashmiri suffering is just a bogey used by Pakistanis to serve their own agenda....aka.....trying to control Kashmir....

Please quit your farce about "caring" for Kashmiris......if you genuinely did, you would appreciate our efforts....
