Did u see how smooth it has been after handing over these to army? I believe only one party will do well in Bangladesh...that's army party. I recently experienced the differences between civilian and army. Bangali dandar upor thanda....there's no other way. Sometimes they'll behave bad shouting bloody civilian , close ur eyes and accept it...u are getting things done quick without money....that's what u need, at least farrrrrrr better than so called democracy (thugocracy). Next election my vote is for Bangladesh Army Party (BAP).....Joy Banglaaaaa .

Yes our mighty army did indeed agree to assist in construction and renovation of some mosques, but backed off when it got a Fatwa.

Military is for the defense of the nation, not construction work. We don't have caste system in our nation and we are a secular democracy unlike your Brahmin led superpower. Our military should show some balls at the border before doing mercenary work and construction work. We have plenty of construction firms in our nation that can do this job, we do not need our mercenary force for it.

You seem to think that the Military's Job is just shooting people. It's a lot more complicated than that.

Every Nation has an Engineer corp which builds and destroys and maintains buildings and equipment. An effective military will need to rebuild fortifications and build better transport links e.g.Bridges. Even the US military builds stuff likes schools and help rebuild Building(that they destroyed) and they learn it from practising where they can. So if powerful militaries like the US do this,why shouldn't Bangladesh??
If our land rovers and trucks for the military broke down,do they repair it themselves or send them back to car manufacturers to fix since they are not mechanics and we have many car manufacturers around??

As far as a mercenary force goes, going to different places and doing this gives our troops valuble experiences in different battlefields and conditions and tests to see if our equipment works in those conditions. One of the reasons the Americans lost in vietnam is that they weren't used to the environments and tactics used by guerilla forces and neither where their weapons. This experience and adaptability allows our military to fight effectively whatever the environment and likely one of the reasons why America asked BD to join the coalition forces for the Iraq War.

Sure,you do have a point about Bangladesh doing certain jobs that are not conventional for a military. But Bangladesh needs it, Khulna Shipyard was a dump before the navy took over and so was the BMTF before taken over by the army. The Armed forces seem to make everything more efficient.

Construction and rapid movement of logistics is a crucial role for the military of any country.

Our armed forces helped in logistics movement during Kedarnath flood in Uttarakhand recently apart from rescue and relief work.

Does that mean they are constructing companies too?

I don't know what you've got in mind, but let me tell you something; Army does not only mean fight, kill and attack.

It means a lot more.
