Army Major arrested in Pakistan Railways copper heist case

Well they are now in the investigation phase - but it is "interesting" that a courts martial is not planned - a Pakistani version of don't ask, Don't tell - And so whatever the consequences in a civilian court, they are not going to be as bad as giving up superiors who can make live in civilian detention, bearable.

well, atleast there is something positive. the army was good to respond, the culprit has been dismissed:
RAWALPINDI: Major Ayub who was found guilty of theft of copper wire in a Railway bogie has been dismissed from the Army. According to a statement released by the ISPR, Major Ayub has also been ordered to deposit his share of the embezzled amount in the government treasury.

The bogie filed with copper was stolen and taken from Lahore to Kharian. The thieves had changed the number of the bogie. The copper was sold but the police managed to arrest those behind the crime.
Railway bogie theft case: Army major dismissed

this atleast strengthen the trust in forces, good job by ISPR!

regards!

For a mere 0.6 Million PKR. The man sold his dignity along with the respect associated with the Army. Shameful.
For those posters getting too jumpy, I would like to remind you that he was arrested by the Army themselves and has now been dishonourably discharged. Nobody who does something wrong in PA goes scotch free. Most likely going to face up to 25 years in prison.

Taken off duty? This fellow should be court-martialled and put in the brig! But then, he's small fry. How about corruption at higher levels? It's common to see Generals in their Audis, Mercs, BMWs, Land Rovers etc. Have these expensive vehicles been bought from the legitimate pay and allowances of Army officers or is it from slush money?

Land Rovers, yes. All others, no.
