This Army was meant to protect Pakistan but they only protect their
luxuries and corruption.

TTP is just a B team of the Army just like the TLP. I won't be surprised if
they hand over a base to U.S and allow drone strikes soon as well.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir has said that the Pakistan Army remains focused on the evolving security situation and is determined to take the battle to terrorists.
In a statement released on Friday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the army chief visited North Waziristan’s Miranshah town and the Special Services Group (SSG) headquarters in Tarbela.
“At Miranshah, the COAS laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Monument to pay homage to brave soldiers who laid [down their] lives while defending the motherland,” the ISPR said.
Gen Munir was briefed by field commanders on the latest security situation in the area and the response mechanisms to thwart terrorist threats, the statement added.
The army chief also visited frontline troops deployed along the Pak-Afghan border. “While interacting with officers and men, the COAS commended their professionalism, high morale, and operational readiness,” the statement said.
The ISPR quoted the COAS as saying that the army was focused on the evolving security situation, determined to take the battle to the terrorists and on breaking the “nexus with their facilitators so as to ensure lasting peace through socio-economic development”.
“Pakistan Army will consolidate the hard-earned peace, made possible by the supreme sacrifices of [the] resilient Pakistani nation and law enforcement agencies,” he said.
Later, Gen Munir also visited the SSG headquarters in Tarbela. The COAS met SSG officers and men, including the Zarrar Company whose soldiers took part in the operation at the Counter Terrorism Department complex in Bannu.
“The COAS praised their indomitable spirit, sacrifices, and commitment to duty in various operations. The COAS said SSG is the pride of the nation and it had proved its metal over the years,” the ISPR statement said.
The statement comes amid a spate of terrorist attacks in Pakistan. Four policemen were martyred when terrorists laid siege to a police station in Lakki Marwat — a district of Bannu division — on Sunday.
The same day, militants detained at a facility run by KP police’s Counter Terrorism Department in Bannu took control of the compound, held security personnel hostage and demanded a safe passage first to Afghanistan and later to North Waziristan or South Waziristan.
The siege ended after more than two days following an operation by security forces. Twenty-five terrorists were killed and three security personnel were martyred in the operation.
On Monday, an Intelligence Bureau sub-inspector was gunned down in Peshawar while a suicide attack in North Waziristan claimed the lives of a soldier and two civilians. Also on Monday, back-to-back bombings in Khuzdar injured 20.
In the early hours of Tuesday, dozens of armed militants stormed a police station in South Waziristan’s Wana and escaped after looting arms and ammunition.
Earlier today, a policeman was martyred and at least six people — including four police officers and two civilians — were injured in a suicide blast in Islamabad’s I-10/4 sector in an attack claimed by the outlaw Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.
I wonder if cheap sb would mind investigating it why security situation got bad… or he doesn’t believe in accountability like his predecessor 😜

Go for the bigger, powerful terrorists and not these poor suicide bombers, a rag tag group of socially isolated group left with no choice but to resort to such things.

The bigger Mafias be it the political clan syphoning off tens of billions Rs, go for the Mafias with 60% of the NA members with NAB cases against them.

Get hold of Waderas and Sardars milching the country dry, go for land grabbers and plunderers who are the bigger terrorists.

The current Mil Establishment, waderas and sardars, feudal lords and gaddi nasheens, the religious to political cults and cabals are the bigger terrorists.
Civilian setups have been provided all the resources to take on the agenda of terrorism, negotiation and provide practical means for security of the citizens. Its a personal opinion that apart from specialized Operations, Army should be withdrawn where as paramilitary and police should take the lead and take over all the operations with free hand.

A federal counterpart to Zarrar ATU should be formed with operators taken from all branches of Federal forces (except PA/PAF/PN) and then this Spec Ops unit should conduct all anti-terror Ops since CTD seems to failed to secure its own compound. It should have been expected that CTD compound be cleared by sending in KPK's SCU and RRU, but at the end of the day PA comes to the rescue.

The mindset has to be changed if Army's role in all major events taking place in Pakistan has to be limited. Any citizen knows that when all else fails, Army will be sent in, whether its a rescue Ops or providing security against political elements since police gets political or even cleaning of canals or debris. This means that all Civil departments should use their resources to bring their levels on par or better than Army standards. The equipment has to be top notch, not just the training and personnel.

In Punjab Police, the Elite Force has become something like LCB, a jack of all trades, where as it should have been kept limited and styled on USA SWAT force training and handling of Ops. Same for goes for SSU in Sindh. KPK has SCU. These police units are raised to undertake Special Ops of all kinds, yet they are not sent in to conduct Ops. Take for example LA SWAT force has a history of Ops it undertook.

A similar step is needed in Civil Defense and Rescue Departments which require heavy and specialized machinery along with operators. For any natural disaster or calamity FWO, NLC and Army Engineers are called in. Army should be the back up, not the first choice. In the field of medical transport, Edhi had done wonders by providing wheels for injured and wounded along with Chippa, but these are private ventures. Rescue 1122 is an awesome set up and we have a member here on PDF whose expertise was used in that. This Rescue system has the machinery and man power to help citizens of Pakistan without keeping the VIP culture in mind. The Federal or provincial Fire Brigade system was once into shambles but has picked itself from dust and managed to form a formidable department, yet improvements can be made.

The intelligence community is the same. Military depends upon ISI and military agencies where as CTD/Police have IB and FIA. Rangers and FC have own intel setups which are not widely known. They all work in their own domains and yet they overlap at some points with each other. In any case, Military's own intel network is very strong even if ISI is not taken into account. This means that IB and FIA should have taken the front seat instead NICC was formed which is headed by DG ISI who overlooks all the other agencies assigned to NICC. Then under MOI comes the NCMC which again has its branches inside all other intel agencies who provide resources to it. And the tird one is NID which again works on similar agenda to NCMC and NICC with little differences. IB should have taken the lead from ISI based on many factors but IB slowed down and let other departments come up who need resources from intel agencies to run their operations. This is disappointing since ISI took the lead from MI also while IB had the best resources and apparatus once.

Anti-terrorist operations give the picture of SF going in and killing terrorists in the heads, that is not the full picture. Killing and repeated killing has not helped anyone. TTP got new recruits so did Army and Police. The equation seems to be coming back. Army had raised LCBs to counter terrorism, these units have better utilization as air assault units which in turn will expand the Army aviation branch. The political system in FATA region and Baluchistan province needs to be revamped but MOI seems to lack interest while Army has signed security pact with China in relation to Gwadar and raised new Division for that, SSD

I have outlined the units and formations which have been raised and counter terror in the past few times, but its the Police and related forces who should now take the brunt of the Ops rather than sending Army and this was envisioned through CTD by GOP but results are minimal.

OK, so the army has created its own B team to let the Americans bomb it? Is this the new story being peddled in the PTI echo-chamber now? The clown-fest keeps getting better by each passing day. The only thing is that none of it is funny.

All of the above addresses the reactionary part. The primary focus needs to be on the proactive. Nip the instigation in the bud. That can only happen if Taliban are told that real repercussions await their actions towards TTP/BLA. By this, I do not mean kinetic is the answer. Simply trade, travel restrictions and diplomatic moves with Qatar and other Khaleej states to tell Taliban to wisen up.

Otherwise no amount of reactive CT capability will help. This is as if in the face of global warming, building dams is the only option. That helps a little but not much.

It is the Government of Pakistan of the day. Leave your party politics aside for a day and think about this dispassionately without applying your PTI lens to the situation.
After all, it was the PTI government along with the establishment that had together blown sunshine up the asses of Taliban to get them to this point. How about focusing on the follies of PTI government towards Taliban? Do they not share the blame? Was it not Imran Khan who said "Afghanistan has freed itself from the shackles for slavery"? Now the Taliban want to remove the shackles of Pakistani federation from all over KP/FATA and possibly even parts of Balochistan.
