ISLAMABAD (Umar Cheema) Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has started his farewell meetings while all speculations regarding his extension in office have died down. It is also expected to reduce the political uncertainty that was likely to increase as a result of such a decision.
There were reports that the government and the army chief's common allies wanted the army chief to be extended but the proposal did not find strong support from either side. A source close to the army chief has vehemently denied the impression that he wants to continue in his job.
On the contrary, General Bajwa started a series of farewell meetings from November 1, which meant he had no plans for an extension, the source said. According to an ISPR press release, last Wednesday he visited Peshawar Corps after which he also visited Sialkot and Mangal Garrison on Thursday.
He not only met the officers but also addressed them. He appreciated the excellent performance of the formations during various operations and training and calamities. General Bajwa has said several times that he will not take the extension, especially during backstage discussions with journalists and political leaders.
Recently, while talking to senior journalists at the National Defense University, he said that he will retire on the scheduled date of November 29. Bajwa retiring is good news. But the process to reform the establishment is long and arduous one.

I’d propose reducing their term to 2 years, no extension, Chief reports to Defense ministry, Chiefs banned from meeting ambassador or any other foreign diplomat without permission, military men able to take their cases to civilian courts, completely revisit IB/ISI role (seems they’ve taken p()rn hub role pretty seriously).

Comprehensive strategy to reform establishment can be executed once an elected government is in place.

And ofcourse, accountability for their past actions ie. martial laws, regime changes, making deals with the corrupts.

I didn't say Bajwa did sell or allowed drone, I was referring to IK he didn't. Yes, in wars/extreme cases extension is allowed, and Afghan war wasn't that issue, but Bajwa accepted the legal/illegal extension.

In contrast, Bajwa allowed NAB laws changed. Muftah openly accepting it. Many PDM member saying now that we were brought in and they don't want to rule. Now we have 75 cabinet members. 3/4 are criminals and facing cases. If politicians are lying, ask ISPR and ISI to refute it. Our full bright PM is accused of using UK's aid for earthquake and has lost the defamation case.

Now if not drones/selling bloody civilians by Bajwa but his predecessor, who stripped politicians? IK? who abducted senators and made their naked video? Who registered cases against Arshad Sharif/Imran Riaz/IK? Who released videos of the attacker? Who stormed civilian houses, humiliated men, women, Allama Iqbal's daughter-in-law? shelled peaceful protestors? Only this time army exposed as rangers were called in! Why do all the thicko shine boys fail to understand that extension wasn't the cause of bajwa's beghairti. He simply could have done all this shit in his first 3-year term too. And while extension is not optimal, extension doesn't mean selling out one's country or plunging it into chaos. Why are people blaming General Bajwa? Was Imran khan held on gun point to renew the extension of General Bajwa? Khan wanted to preserve his powers hence renewed the extension which backfired on him. That is politics for you. You can’t trust anybody and certainly not without motives and means to extol.

Only Imran khan is to be blamed for renewing the extension and letting Nawaz sharif scot-free. All the more reasons khan can never be strong impactful leader who is afraid to execute the decisions when necessary.
