Musharraf addressed this during his tenure. He wanted all of them registered and for it to be mandatory for them to teach normal subjects too.Slowly but surely the problem is being exposed.
Madrasas are dangerous. The students that enroll into them not only get brainwashed but their parents and future generations do as well.
The amount that Imran Khan gave to Madrasas this year was probably the most stupidest thing he as done in his political career. That amount of money could have created several state of the art schools, which could house 3,000 students each. I'm guessing at least 7 schools could be created.
I think you're wrong about that. The quality of education varies from madarsa to madarsa - some provide top quality education and are the equivalent of religious oriented private schools, unfortunately they are the exception and not the rule. All madarsas provide basic literacy to kids who'd otherwise go without and many provide food and a roof over thier heads to kids who'd otherwise go without.
The state should be teaching, feeding and sheltering anyone reliant on a madarsa to do so - the state fails these people.
What they should do is register them all and even provide funding as long as they are also teaching regular subjects. No educational institute should be allowed to operate without these conditions.
