Army Chief General Bikram Singh presented to the Prime Minister and senior cabinet ministers today tougher options that India has to handle the border stand-off provoked by a Chinese platoon pitching tents about 19 km inside Indian territory in Ladakh. A third flag meeting between the two sides yesterday failed to break the deadlock. Beijing has so far insisted that it has not violated the border.Sources said General Singh suggested to the Cabinet Committee on Security that if ordered, the Army can cut off the route through which supplies reach the five tents that the Chinese troops have set up in the Depsang Valley near the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the de facto border.

The Army, has reportedly said, could also counter the Chinese incursion by setting up an Indian Army presence in another area which is contentious or disputed.Another option that General Singh offered, sources said, was that the Army could resume patrolling the border, which has been disrupted by the Chinese presence, skirting the neighbour’s camp though that would take the patrol very close to another Chinese camp at Aksai Chin.

If India is going to block armour supply trucks, they would have better luck just shoot the troops.

Hope things doesnt get more serious and get out of hand.... This issue was avoidable... i dono why chinese started this issue at a time when india and china was heading on right direction on resolution of disputes. May be chinese learnt something from our other neighbor and its army....

.
Maybe both sides should retreat out of all disputed territory. If both countries are willing to do that, it will defuse the tension.

Would be best....last thing this region needs is a major war with all the cr@p already on-going. (Korea, Burma, Island disputes, The usual Pak-Indian fun, Afghanistan....)

Desirable, but very unlikely. None of us would like to lose face now. But I dont think it would lead to war either. But I wonder why China chose to do this when things were going pretty good for us? Do you want to force us to solve it once and for all?

Maybe that is what China is trying to do, try to solve the border issue with you guys while take advantage of you. And if India move closer to China, it will lose all military sales from the US and maybe even Europe.

Its a trap. The Chinese want us to jump the gun. If and when we do so, they will counter and achieve their objectives in one swift motion.

China wants to test the reaction of India. So far, they have get a lot of reactions from Indian media and Indian members in the PDF. But the Indian gov or military is still business as usual.

Probably for the same reason IA and IAF chiefs blurted 2-front war rhetoric...............if everything was going in right direction what was the need for such unprofessional and callous chest thumping by indian military leadership.............by this move china has actually slapped indian military leadership and showed them their right place..............but the fun will start once the Chinese troops go back at their own will.......................then the world will see a chest thumping supa dupa indian pawa that eye balled the Chinese to retreat................LOL
