The Pakistan Army has started conducting trials on a domestically produced automatic grenade launcher (AGL), according to reports on social media.

Pictures posted on Twitter show Army personnel reportedly testing an indigenous PAK-40 Automatic Grenade Launcher. The weapon platform is reportedly capable of operating in temperatures ranging from 55C to -24C.

Reports suggest the launcher has a range of 2,200 meters and weighs around 41 kilograms. The launcher can also be equipped with night vision or thermal sights.

The launcher fires 40mm grenades with a lethal radius of 10 metres and is capable of firing multiple types of grenades.

An Automatic grenade launcher is much like a machine gun, as it fires rounds in quick succession from an ammunition belt or a magazine. It is also mounted on vehicles or helicopters and requires a small team to operate it.

Earlier, it was reported that the Malaysian government is in preliminary talks with Pakistan for the export of JF-17 Thunder fighter aircraft, according to Janes.

The disclosure was made by an official from Pakistan Aeronautical Complex on the sidelines of the Defense Services Asia 2018 exhibition in Kuala Lumpur. According to the British publication, the governments of the two countries were engaged in “primary level talks” about the sale of the fighter jets.

The aircraft is expected to cater to the combat requirements of the Royal Malaysian Air Force.

Good stuff, every little bit helps. 2km is quite some range for a grenade launcher. is that normal in the battlefield, to lob a grenade that far?

Aselsan has developed a new 40mm smart ammunition called Mod78HE which is programmable to explode on air. The new munition will pass into serial production in June18.

Effective Range:2000m
Kill radius: 10m

Pakistani 40mm launcher with this new ammunition can be a good match..

Don't get me wrong but, builing indegenious grenade Launchers after sending back the "broken" MKEK in that short time is a little bit unlikely...

With due respect,

Quite the opposite, The Defence co-operations and deals have to be postponed or cancelled by Turkey untill the scandal is solved legally, and trust is set again.

No need to be humiliated, abused, betrayed more nationally and internationally.

@PAR 5 this can't be right, I thought only state owned enterprises were allowed to produce ordnances?

Daudsons Armoury has an exception being one of the oldest firearms manufacturer in Pakistan. They have been at this for many years now. They have essentially copied the Singaporean AGL from early 1990's. As the story goes is that when the Singaporeans sent their 40mm AGL for trials to Pakistan Army, they came here to demonstrate and found their AGL box opened and the AGL tampered with by 'someone'. They immediately complained but to no avail. This is also one of the reasons that Singaporeans never did any military business with Pakistan. I've visited DAUDSONS factory located just outside of Peshawar. They are very basic and employ Darra techniques of manufacturing bombs for PAF and other small arms
