Army aviation deploy choppers to congo peace mission

.
I'm sorry, (and I mean this in the least offensive way possible, believe me) does Pakistan, given the state she is in, have any business deploying such assets abroad to help bring peace when that isn't even present at home? It seems like an odd decision to me motivated by trying to bring prestige to the nation.

Again, a valid question which I think many will have when reading such news.

Because WE can!!

Is a short answer

The kind of answer you might get from Americans if you ask them something like this

“.. don’t take it a wrong way but you just had a war in Iraq and are still at war in Afghanistan so why are you gearing up for a war with Iran?”

the answer will be the same in the red above.

But let me explain in our case.

We are not going for a war so we can spare these troops for UN peacekeeping duties.
contribution to UN peacekeeping missions dates back well before the WoT that you are referring to. And like my first liner …because it could spare troops and/ or equipment, the PA decided to take part in peacekeeping mission and respond to the call from UN.

thanks for pointing out our insurgency issues, for that we need gunship helicopters and light combat vehicles modified for urban warfare. We are not fighting another country for which we need all transport helicopters. The only full scale use came when we launched the Swat operation.

So while these Helicopters may or may not be Pakistani is beside the point because the ones in Pakistan are not always in constant use and neither is our whole Army engaged in the fight with the BLA and TTP terrorists.

best of luck to the DRC mission; do the nation proud
