ARM Cuts Off Huawei in Devastating Move

I didn't see Russia spray Western Europe with Agent Orange and make their population deformed.
Don’t make stupid comment here!
I am here in a city of Germany where US bombers burnt it to the ground. you are free to ask random Germans on the streets, if they are ready to sacrifice their lives, their country, for chinese tourist consumption, for a country in Far East, most don’t know?

LOL how are Germans sacrificing their lives to oppose US hegemony? Do you see Russians spraying Germans with Agent Orange to turn them all deformed?

Western Europe relies on US security guarantee. Do you believe they will exchange it against chinese consumer spendings? If you think so, time to see a doc.
You are really naive if you think the Germans are not thinking of getting independence. How do you feel getting sanctioned for building a pipeline to secure your own gas? They are having an unequal relationship, they tolerated it back in the old days for security reasons. They are not afraid of Russia, they want Russia to join EU dumb dumb to create a bloc storng enough to resist the Anglo American domination.

You don’t get it. The US as victor dictates Germany and Japan. Both are rich and secured thanks to US security assurance and market access, long ago when most chinese used bicycles as mass transportation.

Japan has US troops, so Germany. US tank army is stationed here, not very far where I write this comment.

It's precisely US is too dominative, the Germans and French want to get rid of US. They do have an independent foreign policy even though it gets stifled by US. Europe and EURO were created by the Franco-Germans to unite EU into a bloc. Why do you think both are allowing Huawei? They are using us as the counterbalance since we are the only ones capable. I hope we can use bicycle again like Amsterdam.

You kidding me? China is the largest market in the world. Iran is irrelevant compared to China. China is not Soviet Union, who was only an oil supplier for European countries. Soviet Union is more like a threat to Europeans. It is no big deal to block Soviet Union with US for them. China is not a threat to Europeans at all. In fact, unipolar world isn't in Europe interest. They would be happy to see another power rise to give them more leverage.

Don't forget Assange.

I did mention him.

Using bicycles in city is a good thing. That burns your body’s fat faster. Ha ha. On topic, I see China made a series of strategic mistakes in dealing with the US, but that is your problem.

Well to me, I think Xi contemplated a long time before doing this. He took almost a year to assess the industrial and technological conditions before showing the middle finger. Trump does not like a trade war, but this is gonna trigger a revolution, we are no more bound by the rules of free market, since they are the ones choosing to ban themselves from us. I maybe wrong, you can underestimate Chinese capabilities, not the will.

People are missing the crucial issue here. Carefully read the quoted passage above.

The Americans believe that after Huawei is put on the entity list, it cannot use ARM technology anymore. However, Huawei (and the Chinese government) believes that the licensing is a done deal and ARM cannot cancel it after the fact.

What this means is that Huawei will just go ahead and use the ARM architecture for as long as they want and for whatever they want. Of course ARM is powerless to stop Huawei inside China. ARM will also have difficulty stopping Huawei in China-friendly countries because (1) the Chinese government will lean on the China-friendly countries and (2) the China-friendly countries get the benefit of good products at an attractive price.

The next step will be the US will freeze the bank accounts of Chinese companies and individuals in the US. Then China will nationalize US company's investments.

no, that's not what that means. huawei can use it anywhere. the banned is related to cortex-a series that have some parts designed in the US. all the cortex chips are based on armv8 orignal core ISA that was developed ouside the US and huawei has permanent access to it without US influence. this means that future kirin chips will be based on their own evolution of armv8, instead of cortex evolution of armv8. this will be exactly like what apple's been doing and hisilicon is not new to this... hisilicon has developed many chips for their networking equipment based on armv8, armv6, v7. the kunpeng server chip that huawei released not long ago is based on armv8 and is the most powerful on the market desinged by hisilicon. this is why huawei keeps saying this banning has little effect on them. maybe some delays to tweak a few things, but not like overhyped shit from the media. i don't think those so-called journalists know much about this stuff. lol

The microarchitecture or cores are easily replaceable. The issue was with cortex cores, once those are taken away, we can create as many chip designs as we like. I believe Ren said those cores are ready and I believe they will unveil it. For appstore, Huawei will push aptoide or somesort of opensource app store. This will be a truly open system.

We will see who comes out of this war of attrition. No matter who wins, US or CN, many suggest VN wins. So a trade war must not be a bad thing.

:-)

My bet is nobody will win or lose, it will create a divided world. The battlefield will be in other weaker countries, that's why I tell you competition is good, people get to choose. It will be a continuous process whereby each will try to beat the other. It's like Samsung and Apple, it's a continuous battle. Why does everybody think someone will implode? Choice is good for the world

Vietnam will only win if you start to develop technologies and infrastructure like China. We were low level assemblers for decades, accumulating capital expertise and technology. Now we are developing next gen tech because there is not much things to absorb anymore. In the future, weak countries such a Vietnam will end up getting dominated by either China or US, your only chance is a continuous competition else when either one becomes a monopoly, you will end up as their bitch.
