I have watched through and made a list of shit moves I noticed and here I try to give my insights on some.
@0:09 —> Narrator mentions “first Islamic Republic”, then shows an image of the guard dressed up like "Taliban" and holding a gun, which the average Joe in the west will equate with a terrorist.
@0:20 —> Narrator mentions that “…faithful to a regressive form of Islam that supports terrorism…”, while in the background they play the Athan. Subconsciously people will associate the call to prayer (which they obviously can’t understand) with terrorism.
@0:40 —> Claims that, for minorities its a struggle to get by in Pakistan based on them not being Muslim. There are many affluent Christians, some of the most famous colleges in Pakistan are of Christian heritage and owned and administered by christians as well. Forman Christian College in Lahore is one of the best colleges in Pakistan.
@0:50 —> “Pakistan a country teetering between positive change and extremism”, [my opinion] the same extremism that was installed by the CIA? with help from Saudis to fight the Soviets, thanks for leaving that for us guys! After 70 K sacrifices made by Pakistan, we get this nonsense film.
@1:09 —> “…ever since the partition of Pakistan and India…”, the concept of partition is Indian narrative. The reality is that it was liberation of Pakistan, where the persecuted Muslims could not live or practice their faith freely, this became a problem in the subcontinent due to the way the power was shifted by the Englishmen to the Hindus.
@1:30 —> “Commander Asif” is that really his rank?, isn’t he a part of the Army, in which case I would assume his rank to be of Major. It would be lovely if someone can confirm this for me. If he is indeed a Major, then calling him Commander is an act to down play the professionalism of Pakistan Army.
@1:38 —> “…They call them selves Fearless..”, he should have mentioned the group that they belong to, full name is “Fearless Five”. I guess that actually sounds too classy for Pakistan eh! so instead just call them fearless which obviously sounds not as great.
@1:40 —> “…the elite group rescues climbers at altitudes as high as 7000 meters, but once a day Commander Asif has a different mission…” there are various subtle problems with this sentence. With the overall goal is to downplay Pakistan Army, and give an idea that something sinister is going on. The problem starts by mentioning that the group rescues climbers in the beginning of the sentence, this choice establishes that rescuing must be their full time job, then the second part of the sentence starts with a “but” and mentions only commander Asif (instead of the group). This gives the idea that commander Asif is doing something that the rest of the group isn’t doing and perhaps what he is doing is something that shouldn’t be done. The reality is that this group “Fearless Five” belongs to Pakistan Army, and the Army can choose utilize them as required. The fact that they are rescuing climbers, should be used to celebrate Pakistan Army and their positive role. (Please correct me if I’m wrong in this assessment).
@2:54 —> “…India would only have to cut off Pakistan’s access..” This is obviously meant to prop up India, which he will do again later in the video. Just a side note, this would probably be the fastest way to have New Delhi nuked. You break the water treaty and take our water, which means we die, which means you die.
@4:00 —> Mentions that a UN brokered aggreement ended several wars, but then says that conflicts carried on, choosing to give example of Kargil, in which Pakistan is shown as the aggressor. Kargil was in response to Indias aggression on Siachin glacier, something he doesn’t mention.
@5:54 —> My opinion; wth is Pakistan Army doing bringing these people to such sensitive locations. And then when you are bringing them, these men stationed there should have been briefed in detail what to say and what not to say. Captain gullible is just revealing the exact location of the sector HQ, good thing the “press officer” was there to stop the process.
@7:20 —> “..the donkey drivers…” They are mules, specialized and bred for mountain trekking, not just some donkeys, again meant to downplay the professionalism of Pakistan Army, but also possibly a genuine mistake. I want to mention here that there are also some European mountain warfare regiments that specialize in trekking with mules.
@7:30 —> “.. heating oil, the soldiers sole source of energy… the camp ordered 50 cans of fuel, each donkey carries 2”, this is mission critical information that can be used against them in the future.
@7:59 —> “… camp’s been headquartered on the summit since 2012, its protected from avalanches but difficult to reach” more mission sensitive information, ie; hey India, you can’t trigger an avalanche to wipe them out, try something else…
@8:30 —> Captain gullible reveals more information about officer rotations, the interviewer disrespects his privilege and starts interviewing again, asking “how much time can you resist here?, and asking about patrols”, Look I salute Captain Shair, but man someone needs to brief these officers better. This part of the video ends with the narrator revealing the rotation time of 2 months. More mission critical information.
@9:15 —> Narrator reveals the preparedness level of the teams posted there. Revealing how often they train, this is juicy stuff for Indian MI.
@11:06 —> “..seven civilian individuals get **murdered**..” He said martyred not murdered
@11:19 —> narrator reveals that the commander travels “incognito”, this is problematic in two ways. One revealing critical information. And two, it just seems unprofessional. I am going to put this mistake on Pakistan Army, they shouldn’t have done that while the cameras were around, and should have chosen somebody else to do it. And you will see how it comes back to bite us in the back.
@11:30 —> “..Indian side is braced for attacks from Pakistan, a three meter high double barbed wire fence, flood lights thermal imaging cameras and motion sensors are meant to ward of intruders…” so he embraces the Indian narrative again, on a ‘documentary’ about Pakistan, so anyone who watches this, and then reads in the news or hears Indian narrative, that there are terrorists coming over from Pakistan, they will believe their narrative. This also makes to show India as a passive defender, yet well braced, and good for investment so that India continues to grow.
@12:40 —> “Colonel Hassan doesn’t understand why civilians are being targeted”, saying this after showing him walking around in Civilian clothes is going to make people deduce that its because of army sometimes wearing civilian clothes, and India is just not sure who the real civilians really are…
@13:00 —> they let Colonel Hassan describe the attack on civilians. This is problematic as well and meant to undermine this atrocity by India. Usually the narrator is taken as the authority in a documentary. Here by choosing to let the Colonel speak instead, they are not giving full credit. So anyone who has developed a distrusting demeanour towards Pakistan Army, will certainly not take this Indian atrocity seriously. Sad thing is that this was clear evidence of something that is a war crime, but tactfully downplayed and disregarded.
@13:24 —> “…bombing are becoming more frequent, some residents have already left the area but most want to stay no matter the cost…” Using a very indirect word such as ‘bombings’, doesn’t justify the crime here. They should have said, Indian shelling killing civilians…
@13:35 —> Then the interview with the resident of the region. He is saying, “Why should we leave, our ancestors in successive generations have been living here for 500 years, that Kashmir (occupied by India), and this Kashmir are both ours. We are big supporter of our Army (Pakistan Army), the Army is fighting for us. Thats why it’s important that we stay here and ..(in audible).. we can’t just leave our own land.” , all this was translated as “Why should I leave?, our ancestors lived here, it’s been our land for 5 hundred years, we cannot leave our home!”.
@14:10—> They show a map of the region, with Pakistan as normal shade but all surrounding nations as Red, this is a very bold colour, weird choice of colour. Then Islamabad is focused with a circular target like radius. It would be nice if someone professional can weigh in on this.
@14:24 —> “the government wants Pakistan to be seen as a modern country one that’s opening up to the west” We all know that Pakistan is not a modern country, it is a developing nation that’s been entangled in wars. By saying that government wants Pakistan “SEEN” as a “modern” country gives the idea that this a regime that is trying to show the world something which they are not. Also implies that somehow they are desperate for western approval, something akin to a joke dictatorship.
@14:33 —> “Islamabad’s new mall fits into that image..”, this again gives a regime like feel where they are doing something to show off and give a certain image, something like how a dictator would build a golden statue of himself. The thing is this mall isn’t built by the government. It’s private.
@14:50 —> while showing the interior of the mall, they choose to play the part of the video during which there is Athan in the background. The last time the audiences heard the call to prayer was while they were mentioning terrorism.
I wish I had more time to get more done. It took hours to get through just 15 mins of this headache. Hope it helps someone.
