Are Russia and China poised to forge an alliance?

I do not think Russia and China need formal military alliance. The reason is simple - Russia and China both can destroy crumbling USA with it's own hands. Europe itself distancing from dying Empire. But if USA in its last years of power decides to make suicidal attack - then China and Russia must form military alliance to make losses in the war lesser.

There's no need. China mainly faces the east, and Russia faces the West. The alliance is in a battlefield, which is basically two.

Like crazy? China spends a measley 2 percent of gdp on military compared to america who spends 5 percent. Educate urself boy.

I agree, as the US is on its last leg its behavior has become very frantic in recent years. The desperate actions are clear signs it will do almost anything to cling on that dying status. What these Wallstreet bankers and hawkish military leaders need to understand is that they won't be safe either. Their greed will be their own downfall in the quest for money and power if they want to go as far as going nuclear. Both China and Russia are not to be trifled with as we can strangle the psychotic US. The formality of an alliance is something i see as an official agreement that would naturally occur if the US is crazy enough to go to war with us. As of now we enjoy close military cooperation, greater than ever relations on both trade and tourism, seeing many things on the same page on the geopolitical level so there is no need for some official document to proof how close we are to the West.

I don't see this happening due to the fact that Russia is hopeful of gaining leadership over the EU without fighting by making better diplomatic ties and slowly russify EU and become the new USA for the EU by replacing the Americans and taking their position.

Which means Russia has always seen itself part of the western society despite being the rejected kid but they still see themselves part of that society and if Navalny ever comes to power this goal will be realized.

Which means Russia is hopeful of EU-Russia marriage or hoping for that to happen which means Russia is not interest of becoming what the western media like to claim as the ''Axis of evil'' but it wants to be part of that world.

Also Russia doesn't want to enter in an defense alliance where it plays second fiddle to someone because China would dominate Russia in such an alliance pact since China is stronger then Russia.

These two stumbling block is to large of a hurdle for Russia to ever accept it mainwhile China doesn't mind the alliance since it would mean they get to dominate Russia and come under it's influence

Actually Putin has been pushing for a formal alliance since 2014. It’s been China who has been hesitant because Russia is constantly getting into conflicts that China doesn’t want to be drawn into.
