What's new

Are Chinese TV shows popular in Vietnam?

China’s traditional costume, beautiful girls, sword fighting scenes, ancient houses are images the Vietnamese viewers want to see. pictures of the past. of the Han,Tang,Ming. The Viet people have a romantic view on things. They preferably want to see the beautiful side of China.

Contemporary China films are not viewable. So China politics.
But still, thank you, very often when I try to watch a very new Chinese TV show which is not availble in China yet I can find them on youtube uploaded by Vietnamese viewers. Great deed!

Popular?Yes...more or less. More in the past because many Vietnamese wanted to know how the country called China looked like. Now less because being disappointed of China hooliganism. People now watch more Taiwanese, Korean, HK or western films.
As far as I know, Vietnamese love Chinese dramas more than anytime before and more than any other countries' dramas.

.
I used to only watch American TV dramas now I prefer Chinese ones cause the Chinese ones now look better than US dramas in almost everything, choreography, special effects, makeup and costumes.. Chinese studios now are the biggest and best in the world.

You are not alone. Chinese dramas have big number of international fans already. And the number is growing.

I prefer past Chinese dramas over the current ones I've seen even though the budget is lower back then.

Dramas in the past like 聊斋 have good plots and substance. I feel that many of the current dramas (wuxia adaptations) is starting to place form over substance, such as the latest adaption of 神雕侠侣 and 射雕英雄传. I mean, almost every character is a pretty boy or a pretty girl. Can't they find a legitimate old actress to play an elderly character instead of a pretty girl putting on a white-hair wig? Maybe I have different tastes.

The same goes to the music industry in recent years. I was just reading about a thread on it last night.

Hooliganism?Could you elaborate? You mean it by hooliganistic contents embedded in the shows or the deeds done by the government that's pissed you off?
Ok as you asked I will answer. The Viet people call Chinese depending on their mood.

Nguoi Trung Hoa: Hoa people in the Middle

Nguoi Trung Quoc: Middle people

Nguoi Trung Cong: Middle communist

Nguoi Tau: boat people (most Chinese migrants fled to Vietnam by boats following the collapse of the Ming)

The first ones are respectful while the last twos not.

Clear?

Most people in the world call „Chinese“ but the Vietnamese know 4 different names to refer to the people in China.

I see more Chinese TV shows, especially old traditional costume shows are subtitled in Vietnamese than in English and comment sections are full of Vietnamese comments on Youtube so I guess there must be a pretty big viewership in Vietnam.
But none of those Chinese videos has anything close to 185 MILLION views like those of the Vietnamese ones.:cheesy:

You sound like a sour grape.
This is a good development for Vietnam and China.
Singaporean artists have furthered their careers in the large China market.
The large China market will be much sought after by Vietnam as they develop further.

I don't know what is about this video cause all in Vietnamese, are those two famous stars?

you're the sour grape because I busted your lying aszhole in the other thread when you claim that no Japanese American served in the U.S arm forces during world war 2. How the **** can you invent such a lie like that when local Japanese American tv channels where I live proudly air the story about the 442th regime over and over again.

Look at the title of the thread, it is your own countrymen who ask if Chinese tv shows are "popular" in Vietnam; I happened to know a lot about viet nam so I give my input. If you Chinese don't like anyone's input that is contrary to what you want to believe; then specify on the title of the thread that no such input is allowed, only inputs that satisfy your agenda

Your countrymen is pulling Chinese youtube videos with Vietnamese viewership as the "living proof" that Chinese tv shows are popular so my answer to that is no Chinese youtube video has even close to 185 MILLION Vietnamese viewership as the Vietnamese videos and that is a FACT. If you can find any Chinese youtube videos that is more popular than the Vietnamese's 185 MILLIONS views, feel free to let us know.

Funny, you are so proud that 120,000 Japanese were Interned and Incarcerated in concentration camps during world war 2.
Those STUPID Japanese who were sent to DIE IN EUROPE, I wonder if they were willing if they knew about the Internment of their people in the US. Of course they don't know as they were recruited from Hawaii and they don't have Internet back then.
You are SOUR GRAPE because you come here trying to troll this tread with your Vietnam vs China viewership.
The Koreans were followers of Chinese Dramas and programs before they came up with their Korean Hallyu.
This is a good development for Vietnam and China.

Above was what I post, nothing negative.
The large China market will be invaluable for Vietnam when it later develops its entertainment industry.
With a huge vibrant China, Korea, Vietnam market, we will be spoilt for choice.
But of course, that has nothing to do with ex Vietnamese wannabe Americans, except suck SOUR GRAPES.
