Plan for AQ Khans release sent to PM
ISLAMABAD: A meeting chaired by Interior Adviser Rehman Malik on Tuesday decided to send a summary plan to Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani to secure the release of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan. According to sources privy to the developments, the meeting discussed the release of Dr Khan, as well as the overall security situation. Federal Interior Secretary Syed Kamal Shah and other officials of law enforcement agencies attended the meeting. The summary plan for Dr Khans release was also forwarded to the heads of the parties comprising the coalition government, the sources added. The meeting also decided that if the government chose to release Dr Khan, the security officials would compile a comprehensive security plan for him.The sources said that the meeting also reviewed the security arrangements of the upcoming National Assembly session on April 10 and issued special directives to all parliamentarians. They said that if any people sitting in the visitors gallery misbehaved, then the parliamentarian who had issued the visitor card would be held accountable for the misbehaviour. online
