Apple Launches The New iPad
Its here at last, after months of speculation and rumors about the ipad 3″ Apple only hours ago has launched its next gen tablet, The New iPad as expected, Apple has announced the new iPad with a high definition display. Although we reported on many of the features of the device, there were a few surprises that Apple managed to keep under wraps prior to todays announcement.
Apple Launches The New iPad The name of the new iPad is probably the biggest surprise for tech fans. While reports indicated that the next-generation tablet would follow Apples naming conventions and adopt an iPad 3″ or possibly an iPad HD label, Apple is referring to the device as the new iPad. This might prove confusing when the time comes to name Apples next iPadmaybe the newer iPad?
Ostensibly, the purpose of the name change is to avoid the cluttered numerical names that many iPad competitors have adopted. Apple has always preferred simplicity, and calling the new tablet iPad rather than iPad 3″ or iPad HD will help the tech giant stay on top of the market by making it easy for consumers to remember the name of its flagship product.
The release date of the new iPad is another surprise. We expected the new iPad to sell on March 29th, based on previous Apple release dates and preliminary reports that stores like Best Buy were already receiving shipments.
The new iPad will go on sale on March 16th. This is perhaps a move to capitalize on the huge coverage that tech journalists have focused on the new iPad.
The high definition display of the iPad is perhaps the worst-kept secret, but its still impressive. The 2048 x 1536 display can fit over three million pixels on screen at a single time.
It will carry Apples Retina moniker, which is a first for an iPad. It should make the new iPad a capable tool for watching movies and reading books, and game developers will have a lot more freedom when developing new iPad apps thanks to the powerful A5X graphics processor.
To make the most of the new display, new iPad owners will also get a 5-megapixel camera.
Other important features of the new iPad include its improved connectivity. The new iPad supports Verizon and AT&Ts LTE networks, which offer much faster Internet access than the 3G networks used by the iPad and iPad 2. The new iPad also supports Bluetooth 4.0. However, it does not support Siri.
The new iPad will retail start at $499 for its 16GB Wi-Fi version, and Apple is already accepting pre-orders.
