Apple CEO Tim Cook: 'Why would you buy a PC anymore?'

Lol little Timmy is aiming for Dumb people.
Ipad a Replacement for desktop????!!!!?!?!??!?!?!?!??!?!
Wadda uo nuts???

I believe you have to carry laptops as no tablet can replace a Laptop except the Razer Edge Pro Tablet.

I disagree, search for the MSI GT80 Titan Laptop Faster than most of the desktops.
But I do agree on one thing that its nuts to compare a laptop to a desktop.

No matter how power laptops become e.g Alienware or new Razors you can't work on laptops for long duration compared to Desktop computers. If someone is serious about working they always go with Desktop.Obviously you can get a laptop and a docking station and put an external monitor and have somewhat like a desktop. Thats what I am planning to get because I can't have an expensive desktop and a laptop at same time. so I have to go with laptop as mobility is more important for me.

hmm.. not everybody has dedicated space in their house to have a desktop. Unless you are a serious pc gamer, I think large screen laptop with some mid range graphics card is good compromise.
and yes, you can use laptop really long, some days am on pdf for 10 hrs... :p:

Tim, I dont understand why the FFFF would someone need a 12" tablet when they already have a 12" laptip, tablet is the most useless gadget ever invented.

What's more, PC/stationary devices like consoles will finally be getting VR in the near future. Take that tablet and iGays!

The best VR headsets

mine was 2005. You have to have a table and a chair.. where you go, sit and switch on the damn machine... :p:
tablets are very good learning/playing device for kids, and portable entertainment device for adults.

Tim you have merely offered a alternative but not a replacement!

Come on gentlemen...Windows 10...runs on both your phone and desktop. With chip speeds increasing it won't be long before your phone will be a device you dock to a monitor and keyboard and run your desktop apps.

He's correct the desktop and laptop will be dead (for the average user) However a $700 iPad is not their killer. A $200 phone will be.

.
So Tim when are you formally announcing closure of Mac Pro, Macbook Pro, Mac Book Air and other Mac stuff you sell around the globe? practice what you preach mate

I understand to what you're hinting at but not so soon, will probably have Windows 11 or 12 before that truly happens for everyone and not just MS Office users and Angry Birds players.

You've read the statements above, all hard core gamers, cooling is problem, when i play GTA 5 graphics card reaches 80C/~170 Fahrenheit. Phone just doesn't have the infrastructure to support that.

Professional users, among which i can count myself as well, i have a soundcard, it's a whole another box connected to the work computer, don't see a phone having it's abilities anytime soon.
Here it also might lead to a safety problem as well, you loose your phone and risk loosing intellectual property. Even if it's in a cloud, you perhaps risk loosing it to the competition if the thief/finder knows what he has found and knows where to monetize it.

users have their preferences. i have a 21.5 imac 2.9ghz late 2012. at first it worked like a dream then after about a year it slowed down badly, i still have it and im using it. i have gone through a keyboard a mouse and a hard drive.
if you want a good one (a mac), and i mean good one then be prepared to spend a lot. i payed £1250.00 excluding warranty. and its crap.
tbh im looking at replacing it with macbook pro retina with a 512 ssd for on the go work. and getting a dual cpu desktop pc with ubuntu and windows 7 ultimate on separate ssd's with hdd's for mass storage, also it will have 2 gtx-980-ti's in hybrid total 12gb graphics. she's gonna set me back £3880.00 excluding monitors mouse and keyboard.

the huge 12 inch ipad is useless, its better to get a surface pro.

With that money you could build a custom PC, a really good one, and it would run 6-7 years without a problem, being able game with it would be a plus side.

least you need is a lap :)

1) Screen real estate. I'm currently running a 24" and 28" monitor. Can't do that with tablet, they don't come that big.

2) Variety of input devices. Touch screens are good for a few things. Mice and keyboards are better for a lot of things.

There are storage and processing advantages too. Tablets are basically good for consuming media. PCs are way better for generating anything, storing anything, and even looking at anything. No match for raw screen size.

Tablets only work slightly reasonably if you are willing to buy all your content and store it in locations where a company can cut you off from what you bought if they decide they don't like you, or continued operation is not profitable enough. Its "trust me" computing.
