Apple asks Foxconn to explore making iPhones in India

Over Priced Phones have not have a Good market in India

.
Even if manufactured in India Apple iPhones won't be as popular as they are in the US.
Reason is India is a price sensitive market. Affordable phones with decent features do good business in India which a global leader like Apple cannot even imagine.

. . . .
I can't really understand why people should buy a heavily overpriced, short-lived commodity like iPhone.

Besides, what is there to 'explore'? More than two dozen companies making phones in India, 70% of the smartphones sold in India are locally made, what is iPhone? Something Martian?
Same reason you buy Victoria's Secret and not New Market.

. .
I hope idiots understand Iphone is not a magic wand to all our Electronic import problems. Even other brand mobiles are only assembled in India. Not exactly made. We need an entire eco-system from memory to screen to receiver and mother board.

. . .
Apple has run out of innovation now they have entered the pricing game. Earlier they tried to sell used phones and they govt rule disallowed it.

Consider this in US avg mobile connection cost per month ==> $30-40 so for 2 years it will cost 720-980$
In india it is ==> 200-500 Rs so for 2 years it will 4800-12k Rs

An average iphone cost 600-500$ is nothing much for americans but for Indians only a guy spending 3000-2000Rs per month should buy a iphone to make it worth it compared to the money spent talking or for service.

Status. Its the same reason people buy Swiss watches.

Dekhoongi ...soochungi :coffee:

My iPhone6 will celebrate his 2nd bday in Dec. :)

Btw I watched the first 1-1.5 hrs of iPhone 7 launch last night. I found the cameras to be too good, specially that of iPhone 7plus. The dual camera is as good as your DSLR they claim, with 10x magnifying capability and other such features. Should be helpful in recording videos of far away objects.

With all due respect - even the new iPhone camera is reportedly still worse than the Samsung Galaxy S6, S7 and Note 5.

Samsung's cameras are amazing low light specialists. They can take wonderful portraits by candle-light. Proven in actual use by my friends. iPhones are for women that come in lovely shades of rose gold....

1. With a battery that blasts like a mini bomb I'm not sure if I'll even like to carry Samsung note 7 series, taking pictures will not even be considered.

Samsung recalls Galaxy Note 7 over battery flaw

Qantas, Virgin Australia ban use of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on board after battery fires

Suicidal for Samsung!!!

I know many who use Samsung, I do agree Samsung produces better pictures even without filters. But I like the picture clarity of iPhones better.
Been an isheeper for long now. I'm fiercely loyal to the brand. :-)

2. I never liked that colour rose gold, always preferred black. Black is sexiest colour ever. It suits anything and everything.

I'm sure you noticed that I left the Note 7 out? :-)

The thing about Samsungs is their low light capability and color gamut. There is no comparison. Seen it myself. And I have a full-frame DSLR and a bit of an amateur photo-enthusiast. Taking portraits by moonlight and candlelight - I just take my Samsung nowadays, no DSLR needed. Who can beat the convenience?

Clarity may be good for iPhones (not that I can see) but sensitivity was the bane of the bunch. Which is critical.

Now that they have newer cameras in iPhone 7 - it does prove,

1. The camera was weak in previous versions and they acknowledge it
2. They are trying to improve the camera to put up a good fight with Samsung in the market.
