I believe he is in deep emotional pain and trying hard to gain prayers for his loved ones. I understand it as recently I lost my beloved Khala and the pain I had was beyond explanation.

Allah pak hum sab ko sabar naseeb farmaye, aur hum sab ki life after death aasaan farmaye. Aameen.
