APML files petition asking for permission for Musharraf’s rally

KARACHI:The All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), led by former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, filed a petition in the High Court of Sindh (SHC) on Wednesday in connection with its January 8 rally. The APML is asking the court to direct the home department and other authorities to give the party permission for holding the event at the Shahrae Quaideen area.

APML secretary general Haris Nawaz filed the petition and named the Sindh home secretary and Karachi commissioner as respondents.

Nawaz said that the party applied for permission on December 22 and has not received a response. He also referred to the fact that it would be discrimination to not allow APML to hold its event, given that other political parties, including the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and the Jamaat-e-Islami, were allowed to hold rallies in Karachi recently. He asked the court to direct the authorities to allow the party to hold its event at the designated place identified in its formal application.

The respondents were issued notices for January 6.

The former president has been declared an absconder in the murder case of the former prime minister, Benazir Bhutto. A trial court in Rawalpindi has issued a ‘perpetual warrant of arrest’ against him in the case.

Musharraf was a frakking idiot. Coward commando who got the jitters and sold the nation on one single phone-call.

Gave the Americans everything they wanted, all verbal agreements didn't even have the guts to ask them to sign contracts limiting what they could do. They wrecked our national highway system from Karachi to Parachinar and Chaman, without paying a single dime for it. The 20 billion in aid that the Americans did throw his way, cost the Pakistani economy between 60 to 80 billion dollars.

And then there was his NRO, "forgiving" Zardari and all these politicians for murder and corruption like it was his bloody money and not the Pakistani nation's. So he ran abroad like a little coward and leaving this political vulture class that he'd brought back, to tear Pakistan to shreds(Zardari was claiming to be a dementia mental patient, to escape court cases in Switzerland before Mush "forgave" him). Also, whenever Bush needed "terrorists" to parade around to show that this "War on Terrorism" was successful, Musharraf would just kidnap and hand over random Pakistani civilians. Majority of inmates at Guantanamo are known to be Pakistanis. People he handed over include Dr. Aafia Siddiqi and her three children, one of which died while she was imprisoned at the Bagram prison.

I'm grateful that the only people who support Musharraf are facebook warriors. To win in politics, to even win one single National Assembly ticket, you need to win in a constituency. Mushy doesn't even appear to have the support to do that.

Musharraf supporters - are cowards of the country.

You think we had any other choice? heck, we didn't even have JF-17s or BVR at the time. May 2 ring a bell?

For Musharraf, Pakistan is and always will be first. He is a man who fought 2 wars for this country and several skirmishes. Served in the SSG. Saw his best friend die in battle. He did what was in Pakistan's best interest.

We had 1000s of criminals in our tribal regions hell bent on destroying Pakistan and using our land to spread menace around the world. We had to put an end to those fanatic goons roaming around. They are the ones who murdered thousands of innocent civilians and our soldiers.

If you are soo appalled by the US, you should equally voice your disgust over those lunatics who violate our sovereignty at will use our land for evil doings and murder Pakistanis at will.

They wrecked our national highway system from Karachi to Parachinar and Chaman, without paying a single dime for it.

BS. Throughout his tenure the economy grew 6-8%. Don't believe me? read reports by UN, IMF, WB, ADB, N11, Goldman or any other institution you feel is right. Even the current government had to accept it with praise while seeking loan or aid from outside.

And then there was his NRO, "forgiving" Zardari and all these politicians for murder and corruption like it was his bloody money and not the Pakistani nation's.

True. NRO was his mistake, he accepted it but that did not elect PPP and PML-N into office. He's human. Further more, following his resignation NRO became irrelevant.

So he ran abroad like a little coward and leaving this political vulture class that he'd brought back, to tear Pakistan to shreds(Zardari was claiming to be a dementia mental patient, to escape court cases in Switzerland before Mush "forgave" him).

He is returning to Pakistan in a few days. You will see.

Achievements during his tenure outweigh any alleged mistakes he made during his tenure.

From politics (local government), health care (rescue 1122), women empowerment, minority rights, economic well being of the people and so on.

Never did he sell Pakistanis to anyone. Dr. Aafia was captured in Afghanistan not Pakistan even her sister says so.

Let's not speculate on what is going to happen. Political changes occur at great pace in Pakistan. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

.
Musharraf must be an idiot to return to Pakistan! I mean, unless Kayani or other military higher-ups have given firm assurances, Musharraf is not going to survive more than a few weeks in Pakistan. And Musharraf's political base is so narrow--mostly along ethnic lines in urban Sindh, I think--that he has no chance of making much of an impact in the next elections.
So...unless the Army has some kind of plan involving Musharraf I think Musharraf should not return to Pakistan. For his own PHYSICAL SAFETY at least!

.
great replies Z9-ec!

U tell these idiots how great Mushy was for Pakistan. He made Pakistan prosper like no one before!

Its the ECONOMY stupid! This is one of the best quotes of President Clinton who is one of the most successful U.S. presidents. If your economy is BAD, then EVERYTHING is bad! If your economy is doing great, then your country will be prosperous!

. .
Where is Musharraf getting all of the money to finance his security protocol and party affairs? No one asks how an Army General has that much money.
