Apache attack choppers to be with the IAF: Browne

It's a joke, Army should have it's own attacking helicopters. Why the hell the air force control the helicopters?Indian way of doing things?

Dude whatever the purpose may be. but our air force also needs few attack choppers especially for escort purpose and all the other purposes.
But you don't need expensive foreign combat helicopters, even Rudras would be enough for escorts (for example for Mi 17 or Mi 26/Chinook helicopters), while IAF will get LCH anyway. They defenitely don't need dedicated combat helicopters for different roles, when IA will take over most of the roles anyway. It's like IAF asking for P8Is, only because carrying up to 11 x SLAM-ER stand off missiles, Bunkerbuster or cluster bombs and "could" use it as a bomber too.
In both cases it is only 1 capability of the aircraft that might be useful for IAF, while in 90% of the roles IA or IN would benefit more of them. Not to forget that it goes the other way around as well, IN don't need dedicated tankers, when they hardly have aircrafts to refuel, while it's easier for IAF to divert some tankers to refuel MPAs, if needed and still benefit from common training, logistics and beeing able to refuel theit aircrafts as well.

Escorting what? And what other purposes?

Ground pounders like these need to BE ESCORTED by air combat capable jets, not the other way round. Jaguars are escorted by Mig 29s, not the other way round.

What India needs is an Integrated command and control system/process.

India is well equipped (system/process/thinking) to fight WW2 :coffee:

well am not saying that IA dont need apache. IA only need apache but what i mentioned was IAF also needs attack helicopter but sorry i completely forget about LCH. so IAF getting LCH means need is very less for apache in IAF.
