Just on a lighter note...

I use straight razor (in Urdu Ustara استرا) for shaving. I used to use Gillette Fusion Razor (5 Blades) but was not really satisfied with the closeness of the shave. I then switched to the straight razor. Though first few weeks were terrible for I would always get myself cut, and sometimes badly. However, now I am using the straight razor for about 5 years and it feels great. Looks like straight razors are available from as cheap as US$5 to as expensive as US$500 and above.

I too use straight razor, when I feel like committing suicide by slitting my throat. The 5 blades Gillette is completely useless, they added two extra blades for no reason at all. The 3 blade Gillette works well, for both shaving your beard and head.

In my opinion, these 3 or 5-blade razors or good so long you are shaving everyday. They are not as good for a couple of days old shave.

OK, looks like you got plenty of extra money. Well, in that case, I'll suggest you to buy yourself a shaving kit or give money to your barber to buy a dedicated shaving kit for you that includes the shaving brush and the razor. Why I am saying this? Many people think it is safe, for the barbers use to change the blades of the razor. However, it is not as safe as it looks. One of the source of Hepatitis B spread in Pakistan is the use of contaminated shaving brushes and razors. By dipping in diluted alcohols or shaving creams, the brushes do not get sterilized. Similarly, the razors have an internal groove in which the blade is inserted. That groove contains the leftover shaving debris and when comes into contact with water, it gets passed on to the face. Usually it is fine but if one gets minor cuts or bruises, the virus enters into the blood.

There's a funny reason why I don't do it myself and why I always go to barber for shave (yet don't spend much money on it). I'm a web developer by profession, and following picture sums it up nicely:
