What is the difference between psychology and psychiatry in practice?

psychology discuss in detail normal behavior, its variation and some disorders.
psychiatry only touches normal behavior and its variation in context to understand abnormal behavior. abnormal behavior and diseases are discussed in detail with its focus is on treatment both pharma and behaviour modification treatment.

i was interested in psychiatry so i did a three month rotation in my housejob in it.

according to stats they have the highest suicidal rates!!! concerned??
no sir that is misleading fact, doctor have same rate as general population with same social status.
high suicide is found in rich, divorced, alcholics etc but not doctors

its like doctor do have a high suicide rate but its not due to being a docotr but due to being rich. a rich person like a sucessful enginer or business man will have same suicide rate

Yes, I think you are right that WHO recognition is needed for sitting the USMLE. The inclusion of newer schools means that good medical education is expanding in Pakistan, which is great. Somebody told me that getting a residency is not easy these days, but the more established colleges have Chapter within APPNA that help with getting slots, while it is more difficult for the newer colleges without established chapters in North America, but I am not sure what is happening.

In reality, it is a wide open world, it does not have to be USA.

ooops i was wrong.for usmle it is necessary that the medical school is registered with ECFMG not WHO

List of all US approved PAKISTAN MEDICAL SCHOOLS

Thank God my college is within the above list.well no doubt getting residency must be difficult.and might take atleast 5 years.
what i was wondering whether one will earn atleast to afford himself in the USA.or will have to still depend on baap ka paisa :D in the mean time of getting residency

I think ECFMG follows WHO listings, but I am not sure. At least it does not matter to you since your school is in both lists. Getting good USMLE scores would help in getting a residency, I think.

well this is what my cousin had told me.if you cant secure good marks in step 1.rather fail it than and apply next time.

Not just step 1. You need to be good across 1, 2 and CSA, and then interview well, and then with luck and a divine push ...... And that is a bloody long, expensive and arduous proposition. Only a few make it through if existing numbers are anything to go by, and it is not getting any easier I know.
