There's maybe 0.00001% of science fiction movies that have any originality or creativity. The rest are unimaginative assembly line crap that keep rehashing one of three basic plots:

- band of humans trying to survive in an apocalyptic future (basically just a shoot 'em up western in the future)
- natural disaster event (no story, just all special effects)
- alien encounter (two arms, two legs, silly plastic headgear and 100% human -- i.e. predictable -- psychology)

I am not saying they are not enjoyable, but very few movies have any real creativity.
