In the US he would have been fired after the first scam. He is the CEO and under his tutelage not only have scams continued but defense needs are being filled extremely slow. He does get some latitude in that he is trying to stop the corruption - but how many years later the results of his efforts get him a C-

Anthony is slow because decades of ingrained corruption in the defence establishment has simply made a clean defence procurement impossible. And he cannot claim responsibility for the multitudes of assshole babus who have made defence ministry their home for decades. Anyone who knows Anthony, knows what kind of a man he is. He wants a corruption free procurement. If being "practical" means giving into corruption then that form of "practical" $hit isn't necessary. And the stupid kids here who has asked him to step down, should GTFO this thread and get back to spamming the other threads in this forum.

Congress is a $hit organisation almost full of scoundrels, no doubt. But never let the hate for congress get in the way of getting rid of corruption(where Anthony is one among them who is WANTS to get rid of it). Get your fuckin priorities straight!!

Scams are the norm in India. The scam itself could have been exposed to make him look bad as he tries to get a rein on it. Defence needs being filled slow are due to the entire process being infiltrated by corruption. We need someone like AK to clean up house otherwise we will end up with buying off the shelf weapons from toher countries never helping our own industry. At some point, you got to start somewhere. The only other hope is MODI but Muslims, Christians and certain Hindus wont make that a reality.....unless....

No its about making bold decisions. Every political faction wants their cut, that is part of the problem. In order for AK Anthony to do this job correctly, he needs to act like a surgeon. There is a lot of preparation before the actual surgery otherwise we will just end up like prior to Kargil, running around paying top dollar and beggin for supplies.

They are just kids, or adults who have no clue of how a large govt organisation works which handles crores and croes of money, and the limitaions of a single clean man. They want India to get the weapons fast so they can brag about it to the pakistani members!

I completely agree with each and every point. The only question is with point 1, how do we ensure that we do not place a candidate who has been corrupted by certain elements in the armed forces who are helping foreign agencies? That particular area of concern should be given extra thought. Elminate political and senior military staff from the selection process is only one partial solution.

Unfortunately there is no perfect solution for a single man, especially when it comes to ensuring the security for a country the size of India, ofcourse in any branch of the armed forces in any country there are political generals and then there are the real generals who work tooth and nail to better the capabilities of the men under them. I guess it really boils down to whether the incumbent government can select someone like that, but that too is accompanied by trying to maintain a fine balance between not succumbing to corruption or succumbing to bureaucratic cold feet (when under intensive media scrutiny leading to slower decision making.....

To clarify, my issue with Anthony isn't corruption or the pace of weapon acquisitions(I agree, both factors are systemic in nature). My gripe with him is the growing disconnect between the Armed Forces and the civil government. From General V. K Singh's court saga to the Ladakh incursion, the relationship between the MoD and the Army has hit rock bottom under his command with one hand not knowing what the other is upto. This is a potentially dangerous trend that needs to be nipped in the bud.

VK singh was a fool fighting like a child on his date of birth..if MOD had accepted his DOB , this would have set a precedent, another thing is VK Singh is looking for a plum post after retirement since you can see him in the limelight with Anna and so forth , his plan is to get a post after the general elections in non-congress govt

Who's talking about setting precedents? All of it could have been avoided had the government intervened sooner and forced the good general to retire.
