Anti Hindi storm brewing in Tamilnadu

I doubt it. It will most likely be like Canada with Multiple official languages and no national language.

Apples to Oranges.. You cant compare post colonial multi ethnic countries like Ceylon and India that had societies being in existent for some 3000 years with a colonial entity like Canada that has a recorded history of mere 500 odd years

Both French and English are languages of the colonists and foreign.. There is no entrench cultural value.. Indian languages are all native

Again i was asking for the opinion if Indians will object if Hindi be made the national language if over 70% speak it ?

.
is there such a tamil and malayalam language issue in south india..i like Malayalam and the way it sounds :)
Nope, some historical/political issues.....Actually Malayalam is just a Sanskritized version of Ancient Tamil.....

.
I said that do not impose it. Just make it as National language. thats all. The situation should remain as before.
for that also we need confirmation from All State govt. Central govt alone can not implement it.

Hindi no doubt is one language majority of Indian can understand. But Status as national language is a political issue which under scenario is next to impossible. Meanwhile Bollywood is doing its job in making Hindi more and more popular. ;)

well that is what made the sinhala leaders to go for a swabhasha policy (often called sinhala only policy)
Make Sinhala and Tamil compulsory in all schools of Srilanka...It will help the Tamils and Muslims to integrate more with Sinhalese and viceversa....its not a big deal to learn two languages along with English..

It is.. That is also something most people outside does not know or either being told different.. All public institutions, Transport, Road signs are trilingual island wide

Most Lankans are bilingual and the younger generations will be trilingual

No no. Its like " Hindi hai hum, watan hain". Its not like Hindu hain hum watan hai

Hindi as a people is different from Hindi as a language. When people refer to the people of India as Hindi or Hindu, they are not referring to the language which is not more than 200-300 years old.
