Answer to UAE’s water security crisis could lie in Pakistan, says head of Geowash

.
I am all for exporting water but that should be after our water requirements are fulfilled. At one point we stand up and say that India is trying to create a drought and on the other we export our water. Yes it being wasted in the Arabian sea but we should first utilize our water wastage for our needs. Pakistan has huge agricultural potential that despite being an agricultural nation, we have not utilized fully.

If we are to do this then uae must implement another pipeline that will supply us with oil and gas. However I would prefer if we utilize this water bit this is where ineptness of our govt comes.

I guess cultivating crops and exporting to UAE is a better idea and same goes for live stock.
That will give Pakistan more power and profits too

Use it to do agriculture in dry lands or generate pasture for livestock- You are talking like Pakistan doesn't have any water problem and drought issues- last summer I guess 1000+ people died in Karachi due to heat and water problems last summer-
Upper Riparian Lower Riparian issues are reasons why new canals are built

Karachi is at a considerable distance from Thatta where Indus ends and new canals are a highly controversial subject in Pakistan especially in Sindh

But on a serious note we should export only if our water needs are fulfilled and we've it in excess only than we should export it. :)

We waste so much in floods we turn blessings into curse

Open the pipes during floods only that seems like a better more sustainable option

Good idea if ig works it is a wonder of the world it is best interest of our both brotherhood nation

.
We seem to have a lot of water which we find no use of so exporting it to uae aint such a bad idea
then why do we have draughts? why not transport the water to Pakistani areas where it doesnt reach?

I believe the canals are controversial because farmers fear water loss at their place- imagine how would the farmers react when water is exported to UAE-

if we had enoug brains we would have been channeling them to the places where they dont get clean water or are facing droughts!

or make more HEP!

Hi,

Actually this is a wonderful idea---. First my brother wanted security---now he is in need of water---. What better opportunity of getting closer.

It is amazing----you shut one door---and another wants to open up.

What they are asking is surplus water and nothing more----.

I personally believe that a bond must be created between the two of us that ties us at the hip---so that each may feel the need of the other at every step---.

Pakistan is already heading towards scarcity of water and our food security is at high risk, we should focus on developing dam to conserve flood waters to ensure water availability and to increase cultivation and live stocks. Water is not something which you should every think about selling.
