What's new

Another Lt.Colonel Martyred in N.Waziristan

They are not Mullah Omar is going for international role that is why they even are talking to Iran but these TTP guys according to Afghan Taliban are destroying their image only thing which has stopped Mullah Omar from kicking them earlier is that they are busy with USA and Nato in Afghanistan other wise they would have done it quite before but hope if they really think they are destroying their image than they do it soon

You are clutching at straws. Good Taliban only warned the TTP not to attack Ansar Islam which has good relations with the Good Taliban and hates the TTP.

Please don't mislead your fellow Pakistani's on your noble intentions on how you will deal with them after defeating the NATO.

TTP contacts Afghan Taliban to avert clash: website - DAWN.COM

About recent media reports regarding possible clash between Afghan Taliban Movement and TTP, he said that there were no disputes at all between the two sides. “The movement (TTP) still considers Emir (chief) Mullah Omar to be a legitimate head for it and that it submits to his orders,” al-Kohat was quoted as saying.

“We have old enmity with Ansarul Islam and some other militant groups, who want to avenge their own fights and losses now. They are planning a major attack on us in the bordering areas along Mohmand Agency,” he said, according media reports.

So does it mean that there is no solution to Taliban problem. What should we do surrender as we did in 1971?

BTW we must acknowledge Taliban's bravery.

These folks think Dying will take them to heaven whole heartedly.... Its not Bravery ...its their minds being brainwashed and manipulated to such an extent that they are ready to die ...that might be fighting or suicide bombing ...

Its not bravery....i,d call it something else..... unfortunately they are very good warriors without the fear of death who are just plain dumb enough to fall into any religious mumbo jumbo...

200-300 Talib overwhelmed 15-20 commandos. Faulty intelligence led to the massacre of both infantry platoon and commando platoon resulting in death of around 40-50 soldiers, Air backup and artillery was not used because of the nature of mission to occupy the area quickly and quietly as faulty intel led soldiers to believe they are at an advantage because of surprise attack they are about to commence, but Talibs give them surprise instead . Details are in Operation Tirah Valley thread

So when more than 100 Talibs are raining down 12.7 MM and RPG from above, you can not survive for too long.

Amazing, incredible -- unbelievable just how useless, and poorly trained the PA's elite arm is - Faulty intelligence? How do you miss 200-300 Talib? No UAV used to collect intel/recon? -- PA appears trained for a kind of war, that no longer exists, while irregulars eat their lunch.

As I pointed out before, in thick vegetation, a UAV does you no good at all. The people martyred were the recon party, they included SSG and normal troops. They ran smack into the middle of a Taliban encampment.

1- Saying that conventional warfare does not exist would be very naive...conventional warfare exists and will continue to exit, and with a neighbor like India you can never underestimate that threat.

2- If you had said this 5 years ago, I would have agreed with you a 100%. But now the officers being produced by PMA and also the thinking of the higher command has significantly changed towards asymmetric and guerrilla warfare. The tactics, equipment, training, logistics etc. Just a small example is the personal weaponry. G-3's were perfect for a Indo-Pak scenario, with long engagement range, but in the confines of FATA and areas like that, smaller weapons like Type-56 and M-4's do a much better job. If you take pics from about 5-7 years back you won't see a T-56, but now they are abundant in numbers.

In a thick forestry, such aerial assets fail. Tirah war is just like vietnam jungle war. Pics in Op Tirah thread will give an idea how much thick forestry is there in Tirah

Have it your way -- UAV are no good because of vegetation -- Anyway, on what basis are you so convinced that your interlocutors do not understand how and When and where UAV are used? You say a LTC was part of a tactical recon mission? And this is an example of the quality of training now being imparted?

No, a Lt Col wasn't part of the recce mission, it was a Captain.

Look up IR imagery

Look up IR imagery

Well u are spot on but I am not sure whether PAF UAV's have that great a capability in IR Imagery and enough UAV's to monitor all such ops. maybe they should co-ordinate with NATO for such ops.

Even though US had offered the same - but Pakistanis had great faith in their intelligence ability - just plain stupid

Look up IR imagery

You haven't see the video on live leak, Talibs hiding under thick bushes, American helicopters hovering above them and helis were longbows. IR imagery fails in thick forest or vegetation. We have C-130 recce plane but it won't work

I'm amazed you didn't knew when we talk about intel, C-130 recce plan is integral part in collecting intel for quite some time now

sir the day NATO is defeated the problem will be solved because only than mullah Omar and his men would have enough time to take on TTP and teach them a lesson

Then TTP and the Good Taliban will join and teach the current Pakistan a lesson but you need not worry as you will be their information Minister by then? Saddam Hussain also had a great Minister like that once upon a time.
