I dont want a flame war i am just smiling over hypocrisy of Indians over honour killing. when such incidents come to light we heard and read Indians saying on these are happening within communities of Punjabis, then they opted for saying harayanwis and so on. oh btw earlier they only used to pick on Muslims in India and used to avoid accepting that it is happening in India

gubbi this is time you guys should start realising and should not come up with face saving .

we had been having this issue of honour killing for too long but hates off to our media and civil society we had been taking it up and exposing our culprits and snubbing our govt and now everyone is so much aware that such incidents here will make a big stir

So honour killings don't happen in Pakistan?? I wonder what would happen if a Muslim girl goes around with a boy from another religion,

no one alone blames sikhs for honour killings. infact haryana, punjab, delhi & westren U.P are the areas where this crime is more.

And secondly your intention for posting the thread...you already mentioned..its your internal wrath that makes you post these threads "Indians posting this that blah blah" And you post these kinda threads to relax yourself..get a life and don't think your overacting and concerns about India's internal issues will hide your true intentions.

If it is limited to a specific areas then one should highlight that.. What is the harm in that?... You don't have Khaps in Maharashtra or TN or any other states in India... This specific problem is centered in Haryana and rajasthan (and a different avtar of similar problem exists in parts of Bihar and UP as well)... But, It has nothing to do with the faith and, I will still state that it is more because of societal factors than religeous ones...

BTW, these two states also have the distinction of having the worst records in killing female foeticide... I don't think anyone can say no to the problem there... It is a massive massive problem and still there is no sure shot solution in sight...

However, your idea of Honor Killing ordered by Khap panchayats in New Delhi is misplaced... some areas of Delhi state (not New Delhi ) border with Haryana and Rajasthan and these villages are no different from those across the state border... But, we don't have Khap Panchayats in Delhi for sure...

The honor killings because a daughter/son eloped with a person of another cast is another issue and I am sure you will see an angry father taking out a gun anywhere in the world on such cases... And, that is not an excuse! ... But, that is not a systemic problem like the one of Khap Panchayats and the issue that is being addressed or referred to here is about Khap and not family respect killings!

Jana these killings happen in Punjab , haryana , jammu , rajasthan , and U.P mainly in India. Now if you look at Delhi in an Indian map , it is smack in between haryana and U.P.

Even the crowd in Delhi is mostly from Haryana , U.P and Punjab that is why these things happen in Delhi as well but they happen mostly among the people who live in urban villages in Delhi . Even though they have left their states and entered a metro they still carry the same values(stupidity) with them .

Yes Jana . this is mostly an endemic problem in the states of jammu & kashmir , Rajasthan , Punjab , Haryana , and U.P and Delhi as well . There was a report last year which said that more than 90 % of the reports of honour killing came from these states.There is hardly any honour killing in other parts of India , very few cases.

Nobody is blaming ethnicities Jana ji , you are trolling now , is it our problem that more than ninety percent of these cases come from these four or five places in India ? We are just presenting you with facts . You don't want to believe it then don't but most educated North Indians like me acknowledge it.

I am a Delhiite myself and my ancestors were from Haryana , so i know what i am talking about . I i being a North Indian don't have problem accepting this then why do you ?

NI... Just a small clarification... Areas around Punjab and Jammu may see Honor killing only in cases of boy/girl eloping with someone of another religion.. But we don't have Khap Panchayats in Punjab and J&K for sure Just a clarification...

And Honor killings on the part highlighted by me is a more religious (this private) and emotional issue than a Khap.. which is like a Jungle Raj of Sarpanchs

If something is statistically proven to have originated from a region, then what is the harm in highlighting that?

Completely agree to the bolded statement... But, to simply state a crazy dad killing kids for his own kid is 'only casteism' will be making is simplistic... While caste is certainly a factor, it is not the only factor... Individual ego, faith systems and societal shame all make a dangerous concotion... Some take the load and some don't... Luckily, law treats this as a crime and thus acts as a strong deterrent... I am sure as a journalist, you will appreciate that there is so much more to it than caste only... Detestable nevertheless!
