You got it wrong, Turkey stands for will, power and honor. Time has shown this, and time will surely show this again. A hundred years of stagnation is no indicator for what we are. Our civilization and history speaks for itself, i can respect Italy and Rome for your former empire. But our ex vilayet like Bulgaristan and Rum should just shut their mouth, they have no say in this, especially Romanya has absolutely no stake in this refugee crisis, they are a poor, backward small insignificant country. So is Bulgaristan, if it weren't for England and Russia these countries would still know their place as our ex vilayets
I have a question my friend. Why do you think the osmanian empire is seen so incredible negative in history classes. "the sick man of the bosporus" is just one name chosen for it. We learn in school not one positive thing about it. I know the italian city states during the renaissance were in constant war with the osmanian empire. We had some of our greatest victories against the osmanian empire. Like lepanto where we destroyed the osmanian fleet completly under commander Andrea Doria. I know the osmanians tried to conquer Roma for centuries. as far as i know your Sultans saw it as their central goal. The italian city states fought some of the hardest battles in the mediterranean history about this and we won. Some time later the osmanians accepted this and just stopped any further attacks.
How do turks see this? Are you angry about this or have respect for our military staff like
Andrea Doria
