Hey buddy, I get what you are saying but having one black man or a few hundred thousand scoring well still does not take away from the fact that blacks do often face casual discrimination in the US in every sphere of life. I think The President himself has said some stories about how people assumed he was a waitorwhen he attended some function.... Didn't the First Ladies roommate in Princeton ask for another room because she didn't want to share with a black person ( I bet she regrets that now ! ).


Just because Obama was elected does not mean the end of racism in the US. PLUS there is a lot of casual and fairly intimidating bigotry and prejudice against Muslims wearing religious clothing like hi jabs and beards. Several Sikhs have gotten beaten up because they were assumed to be muslim.

Of course there is still racism in the USA but my post was in response to some of the utterly silly posts about how easy it is for a white male to kill a black man in America without any consequences. Of course, no one wants to talk about many of those same black men assaulting cops, or the "protesters" breaking into shops and stealing TV's and stereo equipment, etc. It's a little more complicated than many of the imbecilic posts here and if we were truly racists and so awful a country for minorities to be in, than we would have NO immigration problem. Our problem is not keeping people in, but keeping illegals out, from Latin America, Africa, Asia, etc.

This is much closer to the reality of how Americans really behave toward racial and religious minorities...

I would agree with you that within the US borders Americans are by and large generous and large hearted people.

Unfortunately that seems to disappear as soon as you go abroad. Ask any Pakistani what he thinks of the drones raining hell fire on pakistanis. ( and yes I know the background the Pak army double speak etc ) . There is a strong perception that Americans have double standards. One American life and the. President has to face the press, thousands of Pakistani lives ..... No issue .... The silence is deafening. This is s problem for Muslims as well, who talk of killing Muslims as somehow much worse crime than killing non-Muslims... so what does that make the rest of us, sheep to be slaughtered at will?

We do need a right leaning media and a more intelligent one urgently. The current lot are corrupt because we have essentially had single party rule for most of the country's life. The KGB used to pay off journalists in indira Gandhis time, which is a big disservice the Soviet Union did to India.

I think there was a right leaning conference in Goa a few months back to discuss ways and means of getting a bigger voice for the right in india, so who knows.

BJP and especially Sangh immediately needs more discipline in public communications, maybe they should set up a professional PR unit. They always end up speaking wrong things in wrong manner and in wrong time. WRONG. That is true ONLY if there has been a historic Suppression of Minorities. NOT otherwise. E.g. Slavery, Jew holocaust etc.

Who formed those rules? Where is this definition of democracy written? If Minorities are yelling louder than majority, then when found to be false wolf crying they will be kicked harder than the majority. If these terms of engagement are acceptable, then only they should go on to yell louder.

Why should we be scrupulously fair only to the minorities? Are the majority fair game?

What is this obsession with tribal and gays? Are they being persecuted in India? How many gays do you know languishing in prison for being gay? How many tribals?
