Pattanam, Kerala- Ancient City in Kerala dating back to 1000 BC that likely thrived until about 400 AD. Some significant finds have been lockets, pendants, carved stones, and coins with engravings of an elephant and a bow and arrow, all dating between the 1st century BC and 4th centrury AD. Ancient Pottery with early Brahmi inscriptions have also been found. Coins from the Roman and Chola Empires have been found dating to the later part of the city's history. It was likely a location for trade with the Roman Empire.

Tiruchirappalli- One of the oldest Cities in Tamil Nadu with records of population dating to 2000 BC. One of the earliest Iron age sites in the subcontinent. with the iron age for this site dating back to 1500 bc. This was also the location of the fourth-oldest man-made dam in human history, built by king Karikalan Chola of the Early Cholas in the 2nd century AD. It is still in use today.
Keeladi- Dating to the 3rd century BC, this is the largest Sangam-era archeological site in South India. This ancient city is particularly important for its elaborate city planning. Some artifacts found include iron arrowheads, gold beads, copper bangles, and ivory chess pieces dating as far back as 2230 years ago. Chola and Roman coins have also been found.
