ANALYSIS - Bangladesh’s act of balancing Asian giant foes

Again, just plain gibberish with no substance at all.

This is an open forum, right? I appreciated and responded to BlueSky's post because he was rightly able to point out that Siliguri Corridor only comes into play for Bangladesh in case of an Indo-China war. Not in a stand-alone war situation between Bangladesh and India, certainly not at the present strength of Bangladesh Military. I appreciated the fact that he understood the ground reality and not get carried away by jingoism like I see so many of you doing. And he was also very much correct about us being a downstream country. Something you should have also known as basic general knowledge.

You have written 3-4 posts since then with the sole agenda of demeaning and mocking me, instead of presenting a single discussion to defend your position. Now I have clarified my statement quite elaborately in posts#37 and 43. I have discussed one possible scenario that is likely to happen. But have you done the same for your stance?

You have instead conveniently avoided the discussion and posted more gibberish.

I would be glad to discuss any other possible scenarios you might have, to establish how Bangladesh Military with its current strength might be able to hold on to captured territories in the Siliguri corridor and all the while not lose our own territory. There certainly may be other scenarios apart from what I mentioned, which I am not foreseeing at this moment. I would certainly love to discuss those here.

But if you cannot bring anything fruitful to the discussion, I suggest you move on and stop making fool of yourself with all these immature childish antics.

You now slowly understanding what has transpired in the toxicity here in this subforum (I suppose you were on a bit of a break from forum) due to certain characters always immediately resorting to this kind of childishness (i.e if you dont agree with me completely, heres a label I hereby declare you as) like they doing again here with you....in a more specific context for you.

One of these cretins literally even had the audacity to suggest a bengali ABC test for @bluesky because he had 100% intuitive confirmation he was a "2nd/hacked account" of mine (which is a permaban offense on this forum that he used for his tantrum fever with mods to try get me silenced for good here).

It has thus changed my attitude on BD as far as my interaction with said cretins here at the least. I used to be quite pro-BD on this subforum early on....till this repeated all or nothing polarised approach waged its attrition on my sensibilities....and thus I give them the stick first thing in return (and any few remaining reasonable BD members and reasonable returning ones hopefully dont judge me too harsh on that).

They have driven away a lot of good BD members (who actually like to have some rationale debate and counter argument) too....probably the worst result of it in the end....again the ongoing hysteria-mob labelling and pushing away any discussion/debate past what they set in some narrow "acceptable" scope for them.

Hopefully you will persist and bring some better balance here.....don't take these emotional mob ppl too seriously.

Thank you.

Yes, you are right, there were many regular BD members who would conduct knowledgeable discussions here. I used to come just to be able to learn from people who had far more knowledge than me in military, politics, geopolitics and even engineering. There used to be a lot of arguments, but it was still civil and rational. Which is why the Webmaster created the Bangladesh Defence subsection in the first place. There was no such section back in 2008 when I joined the forum. Almost all of those members are now gone.

However, now most threads I see are emotionally over-charged mudslinging.

Loki (zabaniyah), anubis, bongbang...heck I even had some good talks with MBI munshi and stannis baratheon and few others....all gone pretty much.

More recently... good members like mage, skies seem to have left completely or are very scarce.

Only few like bluesky and al-zakir offer some persistent counter narrative now to the entrenched mob.

Probably missing a few names....but its not what it used to be.

Yeah, all familiar names and all good people. Munshi Bhai, in particular, was very knowledgeable in Indo-Bangla's strategic affairs. Although most Indians would fight with him a lot, but again it was still rational.

Indeed Bharat won't do anything to defend that.
In times of war with China India needs our commitment that BD would not choke the Siliguri point. Note that most of our tanks are stationed in our northeast near Siliguri point.

India could not deal with tamils who are their own people in srilanka and had to retreat.....

You need to be high on vedic juice to think that india can achieve conclusive victory against a nation on 165m people and secondly if victory is achieved it can hold on to BD in any way for any period of time. Any such adventure will be an existential threat for india....BD will survive it.
Please be practical and to the point. No, India did not invade SL at all. It was SL Tamils who was instigated by Tamil elements in India and fought the SL govt. No doubt, India was expecting a bifurcation of SL but it did not directly intervene in that country.

How can any sane person discuss with a man who does not understand the difference between capturing and holding a land and create problem and cut supply line in a tactical position in during war time ?

If you want to gain some knowledge about this topic , learn about the battle of Thermopylae . yes maybe the chicken neck is not as narrow as the passage of Thermopylae , yet according to current standard , it is also not so convenient for moving a mass army that can surround Bangladesh .

However No comment about your rest of the post as that make no damn sense .

You have instead conveniently avoided the discussion and posted more gibberish.

I did what you deserve actually .You are not worthy of a good discussion who already overlooked geographical fact and started such argument that make zero sense .
But if you cannot bring anything fruitful to the discussion, I suggest you move on and stop making fool of yourself with all these immature childish antics.
Better keep your advises for yourself . or you can simply put me in ignore list as I already suggested before . You are not in a position to tell me what to do or what not , if you do not like it either report my post or simply put me in your ignore list instead of ranting . prove yourself a mature man !

You are talking about capturing Siliguri Corridor and cutting down their supply line. My question to you was how do you expect to hold position when they will have air superiority? My stand was always that with the current military strength we cannot defend our skies, and hence our armor movement would be significantly restricted.

How do you expect to cut down an enemy's armor columns backed by complete air cover, when we are restricted by our lack of air defense?

You talk about cutting their supply line, how about our supply line? How are we to reinforce our advanced positions when they continue to dominate the air?

Only if Xerxes had an airforce eh?

Have you ever been to that part of Bangladesh before? It is very much like what's on the other side of the border. The geophysical structure of the land is very much suitable for armored warfare. With complete air supremacy giving them an unfair advantage, their armored columns can break through our territory and link up. So effectively, the corridor being a narrow 22 km is a fallacy.

The corridor becomes extremely vital only under two circumstances-
1. A war between China and India, where Bangladesh is strategically allied to China
2. A war between Bangladesh and India, where Bangladesh military has a strong air defense capability to protect the skies and provide cover to the ground troops.

But since we have neither conditions present at this moment, it is simply a fantasy.

But hey what do I know, my discussions are not even worthy for a tactical genius like you.

Better keep your advises for yourself . or you can simply put me in ignore list as I already suggested before . Listen, if you can taunt and demean me with impunity, and ignore my dis-consent for tagging, then I absolutely reserve the right to tell you what to do. This is an open forum, right? So deal with it.

The fact is, your little male ego was hurt when I called out your fantasy. So much so that you are whining about this conversation in other threads as well.

Since you obviously cannot impart that hidden tactical genius of yours, you have resorted to demeaning me instead of holding a proper discussion. I see no point in me trying to have a decent conversation with you in this regard anymore.

@leonblack08

Yes BD cannot make any real attempt to cut off India's "Chicken's neck" due to lack of an adequate airforce and proper air-defences.There is no way BA can fight the IA while the skies are dominated by IAF.

However BD can in due course obtain an adequate airforce and air-defences while India cannot make the "Chicken's neck" go away ever. When BD is fully modernised this will become the Archilles heel of India against BD and BD ability to cut India in two will act as a tremendous deterrence to any Indian attempt to bully/attack BD.

Keep on writing good posts. I am here to learn from others who are knowledgeable. About Siliguri neck,
- It is not possible for BD alone to take over the area. IA troops will go south of Siliguri and cut through the northern BD to reach its NE.
- Even in the case of an India-China war BA should keep its neutrality at any cost. It is only because it is not our war.
- However, in the case of a regional war, things may change and for its own security, it will have to move its troops that keeps its land secured.

Adventurism has little place for weak nations like BD. Now, think of Turkey. Historically they have been fighting all through Europe, Asia, and Africa. And, now it is moving its troops to fight against Syrian Kurds. We are unable to move even against MM. India is Hanuj Durast!!

Do you think in the case of a regional war involving India and China, will Bangladesh be able to remain neutral?

I doubt it will have to choose a side as India would want save its NE region, whereas the Chinese would want us to cut it off. I wonder how does one remain neutral in such a scenario.

The only possibility I see is if Bangladesh military becomes powerful enough, so that none of these two countries can push us around to join their war.

Agreed completely.
