An Indian's experience in Bangladesh

My travel to Bangladesh turned into a walk down the lanes of history and I felt as if the two countries continue to be linked through an umbilical cord. They continue to define themselves on the basis of the other.

Thats true. India and Bangladesh are conjoined twins. We have same destiny.

The bold part is not true for India, in fact most Indians outside the common forums like PDF don't even know much about Bangladesh and things happening there, not even the people of West Bengal. It is partially true for India-Pakistan though.

people of border regions do... in any case more Indians should travel to bd, its right next door and visa can be obtained easily.

It was actually the capital of independent Bhati region of Bengal before the invasion of Mughals.

Duhhh... It was actually the capital of Bengal Sultanate not Bhati Bengal... Heard of that? :)

The traveler seems to be from Tripura, and correctly reflected her own reality.

Not to Dhaka, though. That place has nothing to offer. The Sunderbans, Cox's Bazaar and maybe further north, is fine.

I meant its last position before demeaning from its significant status. The writer says about its glory before the British. But its wrong because Sonargaon lost its capital status after Mughals. And regarding capital of Bengal Sultanate, those were in different places, not exclusively in Sonargaon. Only During Fakhruddin Mubarak Shah and his son for 14 years Sonargaon had capital status from where south east areas were conquered. Otherwise capital of Bengal Sultanate were mostly on the North-West Bengal. Sonargaon was only principle area.

Most of the time capital of Bengal sultanate was Lakhnauti. But today it is an obscure place in border between BD and West Bengal.

A young man Bacchu, who didn't give his second name, said whenever a riot or conflict between Hindus and Muslims happen in India "we are targeted here".
This is not true in all cases.During Gujarat massacre in 2002, not a single incidence happened in BD.There were some attack during Babri Mosque demolition.Minority were targeted during 2001 election due to political ground not because they were hindus..Otherwise communal harmony were a lot better in BD then India.Only recently Hindus are being systematically targeted for religious ground by the militant terrorist organization. These recent attacks have nothing to do with India.

Bangladesh and tourism don't fit in one sentence.

Okay, I am just posting two of Dhaka's most popular tourist spots.

Do other countries have such beautiful parliament house?

Thats pretty nice mate but there are also many other countries with stunning architecture themselves, I've noticed that there were few very lofty statements made.. Not trying to belittle Bangladesh it's a very beautiful country on it's own.. And it's Parliament building is iconic Louis I. Kahn style land mark

But with a bit of research you may find many other places around the world have even more stunning buildings of their own

Australian Parliament Canberra

Sri Lankan Parliament Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte

It's also on a artificial island surrounded by a lake
