Why is vishnu blue skinned?

according to Hinduism lord Vishu is the preserver of this universe ... So he lives inside the Cosmic ocean of KSheer sagar in vaikuntha (meaning a place beyond material Universe ) where he sustains, supports & governs the universe ...

so he has got the Divine blue color of the blue cosmic ocean... in reality he is colorless ...

He means to ask, when did this ideology originate? Not what the ideology itself claims. From this perspective Hinduism I would say is around 7000 years old or so? I mean I think pre historic religion originated during the Harappan civilization. Maybe Hinduism as an ideology has its roots there.

Hinduism is not a organised religion with a single authoritarian like the Abhrahamic religion ... Hinduism evolved in various parts of world in various point of time ,so we cant really trace its origin or predict its age... it can be as old as the human race itself...

Some of our religious teachings gives us a hint about hinduism that's why i was asking all these questions.

i was reading bhagvad gita.it's like quran for hindus.you would be shocked to know what i've read in it.
it was clearly written that there is only one supreme almighty and if you worship any other god for your benefits then you would sinned.clearly there were no temples in vedic ages.people has distorted relegion to use them agains other people.i guess islam is also a good relegion but i think mullahs will destroy it like pandits destroyed hinduism.
see how blindly people in india follow others-sai baba used to say sab ka malik ek(there is only one lord and he owns you) and people made sai baba there one and only malik.they started worshipping sai baba

The newly found ruins of lost city Dwarka tells a different story they could be as old as 10,000-12,000 years old by some estimates that too a fully developed port city....

that makes it the older than 5000 years to civilizations like IVC....

N not just these ruins we have got so many proofs of epics like Mahabharta n Ramayana which r spread all over India n most people don't even know about them...

Like recently i went to visit our Kul devi temple which is some 200-250 km from my place n there was a place near about 50 kms ahead of that temple which is said to have been visited by Pandavas during their exile there is also a very deep kund (something like a big swimimg pool) that is said to have been created by Bhim, even the king of the place of our Kul Devi has its name in Mahabharata war......

So likewise there r many places all over India which shows link to our Ancient civilization but not much research is being done even Dwarka was discovered during some pollution check test....
