What's new

An attempt by the United States at regime change in Pakistan didn’t succeed. But they’ll be back

Why are the dissidents in pti ranks not considered ghaddar? And that's no way to clear or clean house. He had bought their allegiances just last year afresh during VoC.

Election eve momentum and campaign momentum are 2 entirely different phenomenon. Unfortunately, the tribal caste politics will always employ such electables lest uprooted through local bodies empowerment
Considering the political situation, do you really think he had a choice in the matter which would have resulted in him forming government?

I don't, but perhaps you have a practical answer.

By the mid-70's, things got so bad that even American politicians developed a sense of shame and decided to do something about the nefarious activities of US intelligence agencies. Result was the Church committee and its findings make for a shocking reading even today. Due to the revulsion arising from Church Committee exposure, compounded with Vietnam defeat, pacifist elements in US government succeeded in controlling the national security monster but then, events took place which began to slowly remove the shackles. Among these events were Iranian revolution, USSR invasion of Afghanistan and Gulf War 1 which completely rehabilitated the image of US security establishment which went back to merry old ways of the time before creation of the Church commission.

From the early 90's US sitaaray have been in gurdish. Gulf War 1, 9/11 and Gulf War 2 served to enhance the power of US security establishment. 9/11 was the peak of US power with even the old foe, the Russians, toeing in line. Americans however over played their hands in driving NATO expansion to Russian borders despite warnings from stalwart members of US foreign policy apparatchik. Rise of China over the last 20 years is another development that has worked to check the power of US/Anglo elite which is having a hard time living in a world which goras do not control. Since battle of Plassey, goras controlled Asia. Now comes the payback. Hence the madness.

Even without the knowledge of the letter, anyone who has studied the workings of Anglo/US establishment would have detected its damned dirty paws in recent events in Pak. Goras have been had been against IK's government from the day it came to power. Aided by locals, respected establishment publications such as Financial Times and Bloomberg have been publishing anti-government on subjects such as pandemic which was handled very adroitly. However despite being aware, even then I could not have imagined the level of desperation. Obviously Russian visit was the last straw.

What has been shocking for me from the recent events is seeing how deep the tentacles of foreign establishment have spread in Pakistan. Given our gora loving elites, this development should not have come as a surprise. But it is your own country so you do not want to believe the worst. You especially hope that armed forces and intelligence agencies wont let us down. But now we must deal with reality. There is a significant part of the society that does not value its freedom achieved with such difficulty and with such great costs. There has to be a plan of dealing with people who cannot think beyond their own bank account and their foreign properties.

In his famous Aug 11 speech, Jinnah had warned that these elements, if not cleansed, would lead us back to disaster. Despite his azmuth, we continue to ignore him. Either these people meet a khaunfnaak anjaam or we do. Neutrality is not an option.

He had no choice, it's the only way to remove the dissidents from PTI ranks, and not suffer a major political defeat.

As it is, PTI and PMIK are heading into an election with huge momentum, which means they won't have to rely on "electables" any more, and get rid of the taint within the party.

This entire ordeal has skyrocketed his popularity beyond anytime in the past, and he'll come out the ultimate winner.

That is if the SCoP doesn't pull something out of its *** and order the restoration of the NA, which would result in a victory for the opposition, because they'd be able to force through a NCV.

Even if the SC pulls something the damage to the opposition is pretty much done the worst to suffer will be PML-N and JUI-F in the long run, while PPP will hold strongly Sindh and influence Baluchistan. It often feels Zardari played the others to his own benefit cause he knew he will never get Punjab besides a few seats. Nawaz did damage to himself by running away and hiding and Cherry Blossom did more damage by opening his mouth. Let’s not forget Zardari hasn’t forgotten his 10 year imprisonment and Noon League throwing edited pictures of Benzair as a stripper etc., he was never going to be loyal to this whole thing. The only ones crying and running around crazy are PML-N, even JUI-F isn’t that raid crazy cause they’ll eat either plate that’s thrown at them.

The momentum as you said will pull the party ahead in general elections as it stands to the point it’ll dethrone PML-N.

Interesting, however it is unlikely that anyone will rise against the grain to expose this and develop Pakistan.
