What's new

An Afghan Brigadier General has joined the Taliban today

. . . . . .
Believe me, the Taliban will eventually come to power and will be embraced by the Afghans.

Because after 20 years of war, Afghans want peace, and peace means that Afghans will support whoever can unify Afghanistan. The Afghan government is clearly unable to unify the whole country, and the only alternative is the Taliban.

isnt he is in his 30s to be a bigadier general ?

Their ranks are mostly assigned on the basis of who can pay more and earn more. Imagine a sarkari department in Sindh--thats your American trained ANA/ANP.

. . . .
New recruitment in the ANA is down 60%, there is attrition on the battlefield from battle or defections. they will probably promote anyone that just stays long enough, and isn’t caught doing anything too beyond the pale. Also needs connections in the ministry of defense; right ethnic background. The ANA is a communal army.

btw, if he is a “brigadier general” he will probably be extensively debriefed.

I don't see why they should question him

if this is true then he is a wise commander

better to have Taliban as friends than enemies
